Priincipal's Message
The school year is moving quickly! As we continue our journey, it is important that I share the following goals with you:
Instructional Goals:
By the end of the school year, 75% of students will meet his or her STAR Reading growth target.
By the end of the school year, 75% of students will meet his or her STAR Math growth target.
By the end of the school year 35% of students in grades 3-5 will pass SC Ready in ELA and Math.
By the end of the school year 35% of students in grade 4 will pass SC PASS Science.
By the end of the school year less than 30% of students in grades 3-5 will score Does Not Meet on SC Ready in ELA and Math.
Our school instructional goals have been in place since the beginning of the school year. Our teachers are embracing each day with high quality lessons. We are focused on our instructional delivery. We want every lesson to be explicit and intentional whereas students can clearly articulate, "What they are learning?", "Why they are learning it?" and " How they learned it?"
In order to meet and exceed our instructional goals, we must continue to work together and push our students to excellence.
Teachers are asked to personalize homework just for your child. Please ensure your child completes his or her homework and read every night. It's even more cool if you read to them!
I want to assure you we are working extremely hard, meeting weekly, and some are even working after school to build our expertise. We are committed and we look forward to your continued support.

How to Address a Concern?
Therefore, the established protocol in our building is as follows:
1. Address concern with Parent Engagement Specialist, Mrs. Brooks-Sumpter to and set up a parent and teacher conference. The conference should be scheduled within 48 hours. Leave meeting with an agreement for all parties. Parent Specialist can join as a support.
2. If the concern continues, contact the school's Guidance Counselor, Mrs. Kimberly Simon to schedule a classroom observation and share concern and the agreed upon plan from the initial parent and teacher conference. The Counselor will provide direct interventions and support strategies for all parties involved. A follow up call is expected within 48 hours to check status of next step.
3. If the concern escalates, contact the Assistant Principal, Dr. Davenna Williams by phone, in person or e-mail. A conference will be scheduled within 24 hours with parent and teacher.
4. If Principal is needed, the Assistant Principal will contact Mrs. Mildred Huff, my secretary to schedule conference within 24 hours.
The order of the steps above can be modified as deemed by Administration.
