GIRLS SOCCER

EHT girls' soccer played in the CAL final on Monday and lost a heartbreaker 1-0 in double overtime to Ocean City. Neither team deserved to lose on a gorgeous October evening full of outstanding soccer. EHT's defense had an answer for the three-headed Ocean City attack of Chisholm, Roads, and Nnewihe with strong play by senior defender Alicia O'Donnell, senior captain defender Angelina Horin, junior defender Ava Kraybill, junior defender Kira Jolly, and junior captain midfielder Aniyah Parker. No matter how Ocean City tried to attack, EHT shut them down. On the counter attack, senior captain forward Gabriella Piantadosi and sophomore forward Brielle VonColln generated numerous scoring chances which just couldn't find the back of the net. For long stretches of the game, EHT dominated play in the air while controlling the midfield. In the end, the girls played with pride and class in what was one of the best performances by an EHT team in program history. They now turn their attention to the South Jersey Group IV playoffs where they have earned the five seed in the sixteen-team tournament! The Eagles open with Toms River East and then potentially play the winner of Kingsway versus Vineland. Congratulations on an incredible regular season run and good luck in the playoffs!

BOYS SOCCER

On Monday boys soccer celebrated their seniors with a 7-1 win over Pleasantville. Goals were scored by Gio Bongiorno, Angel Mendoza, Lucas Cross, Matthew Sanchez, Carlos Ramirez and Ryan Evenson, and Chris Adair and Giancarlo Saparito shared the GK duties.

The Eagles played tough but could not find the back of the net, losing the game 3 nil. With the tough loss the season has officially ended and the boys finished with a record of 10 wins and 10 losses.

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

The Girls' Volleyball team hosted Cape May Tech Tuesday night while honoring their 4-year players for senior night. Seniors Maili Nguyen (opposite hitter) and Keona Estaris (setter) combined for 11 assists, 9 aces, and 2 kills as EHT defeated Cape May Tech by a resounding 25-5 and 25-8 score. The team then traveled to Monroe Township to play Williamstown in round 1 of the NJSIAA state playoffs. The #2 seed Williamstown held serve and won in straight sets as they look to defend their South Jersey Group 4 championship from last season. The Eagles battled hard despite a lopsided score in the 1st set. Their positivity carried them into a very competitive 2nd set. The team goes into the offseason with hope for the 2024 season.
