Tawanka Times

Tawanka Times

Reminder: There will be no school for students November 25th - 27th for Thanksgiving break.

Thank you to those that donated gift cards, money or turkey vouchers to help our Tawanka community. We were able to provide holiday meals for 19 of our families in need. We truly appreciate your help!

From all of us at Tawanka, we wish you and your family a happy and healthy Thanksgiving!

Holiday Donations

We still need your help! We are collecting gift cards to major retailers (Walmart, Target, Amazon, etc.) and cash/Venmo payments to help our Tawanka families in need this holiday season. No donation is too small, every dollar helps make the season a little brighter!

Please send in your donations by Friday, 12/4.

Venmo payments can be made here: https://venmo.com/Tawanka-PTO or search Tawanka PTO in your Venmo app.

Picture Day - Coming Soon!

Picture Day will be December 9th & 10th for students who are attending in-person learning. Students in the D1 virtual program will have a separate picture day. More information will follow as the schedules are finalized. Stay tuned!

Meal Distribution Information

There will be no meal pickup on Friday, November 27. Instead, meals can be picked up on Wednesday, November 25 for that week. The regular Friday pickup will resume on Friday, December 4.

As a reminder, these free breakfast & lunch "grab and go" meals can be picked up between 11am-1pm on distribution days.

Reminder: Winter Coats

With the recent change to colder weather, please remember to send your child with their coat in the morning. Students go outside for RECESS and for GYM as long as the temperature is 20 degrees or above. Hats and gloves are also recommended as the temperatures continue to drop! Due to cross contamination concerns, the nurse is unable to loan jackets as she has in previous years. It is very important to have your child dressed to be outside.

Please make sure to label coats and other items so they can be returned to your child if lost. Initials even help us to locate the owner! Thank you for your cooperation!

Ready, Set....iReady! Ready, Set....iReady!

To help our students meet their weekly math and reading iReady “My Path” goal of 60 minutes, a trophy will be given to the 3rd & 4th grade class and an iReady monster animal to grades K,1 & 2 with the highest overall percentage of students who have met the requirement. But wait…there is more! Each week, one lucky individual student from each grade who has the highest increase in minutes will be chosen to play a round of air hockey with Mr. Palmer, Mrs. Duffy or Mrs. Cozza. Go Team Tawanka Mathematicians!

Join us for Family Code Night

What is family Code Night? A free live-stream family learning event where students and a family member can learn how to code! A flyer will sent home with students on November 23 & 24th.

Kindergarten Kindergarten

Kindergarteners have been working on a few turkey activities all month. Everyone made a feather for our large bulletin board. Scarecrows were created using shapes. Students made turkeys by tracing their feet and hands. Several classes helped a turkey create a disguise to stay hidden this month. Keep up the great work kindergarteners!
