I know lots are all thankful to have seen the rain today as it was much needed, however we did have issues at drop off today with people not following the expectations and procedures for drop off.

Regardless of the weather you must always follow our procedures. You can’t drive or park in the main parking lot of the school or in the bus lanes between 7:15am- 7:50am or from 3:00pm-3:45pm. The safety of all students and those driving is important so please make sure you are following expectations.

We will be continuing our monthly celebrations this year for students who earn it. Students earn this by meeting the following expectations;

1. No Fs in any classes

2. No more than 5 missing assignments

3. No more than 2 visits to the principals office.

Our monthly celebration for September will be on Friday the 29th. Student must turn all missing work in by Wednesday September 27th.

At Jefferson West Middle and High Schools, we offer Social-Emotional Character Development (SECD) Assessments and College and Career (C/C) Readiness Assessments. Please note that some assessments require parents/guardians to "opt-in" by actively providing consent for their student to participate.

This week, we read the book "The World Needs Who You Were Made to Be" by Joanna Gaines. Her dedication at the beginning of the book reads, "I hope that you know and love who you are for all of the beautiful and unique and magical gifts you have to offer the world. May you always look at life with your eyes wide open. Be quick to learn from others and see and celebrate the differences in all of humanity. Be kind to others and to yourself." This book follows a group of students on a journey to create hot air balloons. Different kids approach the project in different ways. And in the end, we see how all of their different hot air balloons fill the sky. Students were all give a hot air balloon to decorate. I'm excited to see how they decorate them!

Ask your student...

1. What makes them special and unique?

2. What do YOU (as their parent/guardian) appreciate about them that is special and unique?

6th, 7th, 8th Grade

All students finished up their Vision Boards this week! If your student brings their iPad home, you should ask to see it! We had some really cool ones created!

Volleyball- B Teams have their last practice today, they will have a tournament on Saturday at Jeff West and then their last game in Sabetha on Monday. A teams will practice until 5pm next week and will have Thursday the 28th off. League tournament will be on September 30th.

As always make sure you pick your daughters up on time and you send them with food for their games.

Football- Last away game for 7th and 8th grade on Thursday at Sabetha, it will be a late night getting home.

Cross Country- This is the last week for MS Cross Country! Practice Monday through Wednesday should be pretty normal (weather looks good after a messy weekend!). Thursday, we travel to Hummer Park (information will be sent Monday or Tuesday) for the Perry Invitational AND MS LEAGUE. There will be other schools besides our League schools there so this is how it works for MS-They run their race like normal. Medals will be handed out for top 15 runners in each division. THEN, they will extract non-league runners and give League medals to top 5 (I believe it's 5 for MS) LEAGUE runners. So, your athlete COULD get 10th overall but 3rd in League or something like that. Please plan to stay until we get League results so we can get pictures of any league winners! Hope to see you at the final meet of the year!
