Recognizing Positive Behavior and Hard work

It is a time for the school community to come together and celebrate the achievements of our students. The cougar pride breakfast is not only a way to acknowledge their efforts, but also to encourage them to continue striving for excellence. It is a reminder that hard work and positive behavior are valued and rewarded at our school. The sense of pride and accomplishment that students feel when they are recognized at the breakfast can be a powerful motivator for them to continue putting forth their best effort in all that they do. Overall, the cougar pride breakfast serves as a way to foster a positive school culture and inspire students to reach their full potential.

NEW ASPEN LOGIN SCREEN

On Friday evening, the login screen for Aspen will be getting an updated look... but don't worry, you'll still use the same login and password to access the site as usual. This new login screen is the first part in a series of upgrades designed to make the site more secure for families, students, teachers, and staff. If you have any questions, please contact the office at your or your child's school.

Forms and Documents that are needed for School

Forms that need to be passed back to the homeroom teachers.

  • Free/Reduced lunch forms: This is important, even though the lunch program is free this year, the amount of accurate applications that we have helps with federal funding that we receive from the government, which helps educate the students. Please make sure you fill this out, even if you think you won't qualify. Here is the link for the application. https://www.attleboroschools.com/page/food-services
  • Update Emergency Form

· From the Nurses Office:

  • Health Services Form- sent home on first day of school
  • Medication Orders dated after July 1, 2024, if your child requires medication at school
  • 7th graders- updated immunization records. 7th Grade updated immunization records: Brought in or faxed to the school nurse.
  • Any updated medical concerns
  • Please keep in mind if your child has an allergy that requires an EpiPen/antihistamine the order must omit the administration of the antihistamine while on a field trip- only the EpiPen can be delegated on a field trip.

Forms to be completed thru ASPEN

  • Handbook sign-off

Dear Families,

We are pleased to inform you of Attleboro High School’s participation in the Massachusetts State Seal of Biliteracy for the 2024-2025 School Year. The Seal of Biliteracy is offered to any student who demonstrates proficiency in English and any other language, whether they speak or sign the language other than English at home or learned it at school or in the community. The State Seal of Biliteracy aims to:

  1. Encourage students to study and master languages;

  2. Certify attainment of biliteracy skills;

  3. Recognize the value of language diversity;

  4. Provide employers with a method of identifying people with language and biliteracy skills;

  5. Provide universities with a method to recognize and give credit to applicants for attainment of high-level skills in languages;

  6. Prepare students with skills that will benefit them in the labor market and the global society; and

  7. Strengthen intergroup communication and honor the multiple cultures and languages in a community.

In order to earn the Massachusetts State Seal of Biliteracy, students must:

  1. Demonstrate a high level of proficiency in English by earning a minimum score of 472 or higher on the Grade 10 ELA MCAS,

  2. Demonstrate a high level of proficiency in a world language by attaining a minimum score equivalent to Intermediate-High on an assessment approved by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, and

  3. Satisfy all other graduation requirements.

The Seal of Biliteracy with Distinction is available to students who:

  1. Earn a score of 501 or higher on the Grade 10 ELA MCAS

  2. Demonstrate a proficiency level of Advanced Low or higher on a Department-approved assessment, and

  3. Satisfy all other graduation requirements.

We will be administering the ELA MCAS throughout the year including in November and March. We will also administer AAPPL (ACTFL Assessment of Performance toward Proficiency in Languages) Measure at select times during the school year.

We look forward to honoring the language expertise and diversity in our district through this initiative. If you have any further questions, please contact Robin Frank at rfrank@attleboroschools.com.

Sincerely,

Robin Frank
