Decatur community,

I hope that the break served everyone well. Mine was a combination of frantic travel across the state, weathering the storm of illness coming at us from all angles, and crunching multiple family gatherings into a small window of time. It was great to see family, many for the first time in half a year (has it really been that long?), and the food did not disappoint, but it was also a great feeling to come home. That's right, "home" to Oberlin.

The rest was needed, and I hope everyone got some, because winter sports are officially under way this week, and the next rest will come at Christmas.

SHOUTOUTS

Shoutout to four football players for their NWKL All League recognition. Lukas Zodrow received 2nd team honors as a linebacker. Honorable Mention honors went to split-end Conner Holladay, defensive end Garrett Emigh, and center Gavin Seller.

Shoutout to all of the students that participated in the annual food drive. Here's the writeup from our Facebook page:

DCHS Students collected 567 items for the Oberlin food pantry. The seniors won the class competition, followed by the sophomores. Thank you to all of the students who contributed food items and cleaning supplies and to the 7th and 8th graders and Mr. Hardwick who helped transport everything to the pantry. Thank you also to Breyana Gehring, Gabbie Vontz, and Kamryn Oien for counting all of the items.

Things You Should Know

GO BIG RED

There wasn't a lot to talk about this week, and, I am honestly on a bit of a time crunch. We've just came off of a short week, a week where most were thinking ahead to things that didn't have much to do with school.

Having said that, it all changes tomorrow. Combined with the beginning of the winter sports' season, DCHS has an important visit this week from the group that will ultimately decide whether or not we should be accredited. It's a pretty big deal. You may or may not have heard of the term KESA. If you have, I am impressed. I won't go into this week, but next week we will cover the who, what, when, why and how of KESA.

For now..........Let the games begin!

Until next week,

Jeremy Holloway
