WORTHY ANNOUNCEMENTS AND WORK
1. RED RIBBON PICK UP DAY: Once you order your wristbands through our Google Form, mark your calendar to send a representative from your campus to pick up your orders on Thursday, October 14th at our Building 3 location for a "drive-through" pick-up line as we were able to do last year. No orders will be filled early, so please do make arrangements and coordinate with your district for multiple orders and pick-up arrangements.
2. The Federal Program Compliance Division at TEA is getting ready to start Phase I of the Random Validation process for 21-22. In Phase I, they will be validating program requirements from Title I-A, Title I-C, Title II and Title IV and Supplement not Supplant Methodology. If a district is chosen for validation, they would only be validated in one of these programs for Phase I. For more information about the Random Validation process, TEA is conducting an overview training on Monday, 9/27 from 9am-11am as part of their Statewide Training Series. Use the link below to register. If you have a conflict and can not attend...no worries, TEA will post the recording of the training and the resources.

3. This toolkit offers a range of resources to support a collaborative approach to preventing child maltreatment and promoting positive outcomes for children, youth, and families in Texas communities. It supports community members (whether an individual, an organization, or an existing coalition) who are searching for ways to promote protective factors in children, youth, and families and reduce the need for costly intervention later.

If you were one of those trained virtually last year for vision and hearing, practicum sessions with Paul Gonzalez from DSHS are also available now, also.
- DSHS is not offering any spinal screening sessions at this time. Watch for updates. RNs can do them without training by using the information on the DSHS website.

- From the TEA COVID Response Team: The current K-12 COVID Testing Project (this was schools that did COVID testing AT the school on students, staff, family) will stop being supported by the Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM) on September 15, 2021. The Texas Education Agency (TEA) and the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) will roll out guidance for the 2021-2022 COVID-19 Testing Program in the coming weeks. You may finish using up your kits from TDEM through October 27th when the doctor's standing order expires.
