You'll get to see firsthand the progress they've made and discuss how we can continue to support their development together. This year, students have also been encouraged to set their own learning goals, and they are eager to share what they want to accomplish! It's wonderful to see their enthusiasm and ownership of their learning journey.

National Custodian Appreciation Day
Custodian Day is an annual observance dedicated to acknowledging and honoring the hardworking custodians who keep facilities clean, sanitary, and well-maintained. The students in 3MS surprised Mr. Marco with hand-made cards of appreciation for all that he does for us. We are very thankful for his kind and competent work behind-the-scenes. Mr. Marco truly makes our school a wonderful place in which to learn!
Erin’s Law Presentations
Erin's Law (Illinois Public Act 097-1147) requires public schools to provide child sexual abuse prevention education for all children in grades pre-kindergarten through twelfth annually.
At the elementary level, instruction is provided by social workers and psychologists in partnership with classroom teachers. Please click HERE for a more detailed letter regarding Erin’s Law

National Walk, Bike, and Roll to School Day is Wednesday, October 8, 2025. Davis Elementary welcomes you to participate in this morning's event. These events are important opportunities to bring our school community together. Our goal is to encourage physical activity and promote safety in your neighborhoods. On the sidewalk at Horne and 7th Street (by the crossing guard), the Davis Wellness Club student representatives, staff, and PTO will welcome our students as they walk, bike, and roll to school.
We are excited to highlight a new BIKE RACK which is much closer to Doors 12 & 21 where many students enter and exit the school. We hope to see many bikes & scooters making use of this convenient location!
Community Cabinet Food Drive.
D303 is supporting the St. Charles Public Library with their Community Cabinet Food Drive. Parents and students may bring donations to bins either at the St. Charles Public Library or any D303 School. Donations will be accepted from Oct. 13-31. Thank you for your support!

The parade will be held outside from 1:55 to 2:15 pm. Parents may line up around the Kindergarten playground off of Horne Street to watch the parade.
Classroom parties will run from 2:15 pm to 3:00 pm
Room Parents will be allowed to go to classrooms at 1:30 pm for party setup and to assist with costumes after they have checked in at the office

Costume & Party Guidelines
Students should bring costumes in a bag. Costumes must be appropriate for school. Costumes should not be violent or scary in nature. No blood, guts, or weapons. No masks. Make-up is discouraged because it is difficult to apply. No bare midriffs or scant clothing. Students may be asked to remove or put away any parts of costumes based on teacher judgment.
Room Parents who are assisting with the parties should not wear disguises that would make it difficult to recognize them as a safe person
Only Room Parents may attend the classroom parties and assist students.
Room Parent Guidelines
No more than 4 room parents per classroom may attend. (Others may assist with preparations or goody bags). Sign-up for Room Parents was completed through our PTO in September.
If you have never had your ID/drivers license scanned at the school, it is very helpful to have that done prior to the party. Stop by the office at your convenience.
Room Parents should make childcare arrangements for younger children; they may not attend the party.
Lead Parent: Work with the classroom teacher & other room parents on activities/games for the party
Lead Parent: Coordinate with the teacher & other room parents on any non-edible goody bags to be sent home. No food treats will be eaten during the party or sent home.

News from the Nurse
Hand, Foot & Mouth Disease
All schools have received an alert from public health that hand, foot and mouth disease has been seen throughout our community. We have also seen an uptick in the number of students here at Davis. This is a viral illness which occurs commonly in children under 10 years old. However, older children and adults may contract it as well.
This usually starts with a sore throat and low grade fever. Small blisters form on the inside of the mouth, lips and throat. The skin rash develop as red raised spots on fingers, hands and feet. The blisters may break easily and form small ulcers that become red. This virus is contagious during the first week of the illness. Symptoms may occur 7-10 days after exposure. Children displaying symptoms of open draining lesions or fever will be excluded until those symptoms are no longer present.
A mild case takes about 7-10 days to resolve. Good handwashing is very important to stop the spread. In addition, our custodians are putting in extra efforts for cleaning including door knobs, faucets, table tops and bathrooms.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out.
Thank you,
