Alliance Theather
Good news! Marietta City Schools has identified funding for Park Street Kindergarten to receive an Alliance Theatre residency, Georgia Wolf Trap Early Learning Through the Arts. Wolf Trap teaching artists work to enhance literacy, STEM, and ELL skills through arts integration. This is a fully funded opportunity for our classrooms to receive job-embedded professional learning from one of our trained teaching artists in and outside of the classroom! We will have their lesson every week!

Hello. My name is Kristi Plunkett and I am an EIP teacher here at Park Street. EIP stands for Early Intervention Program. The overall goal of the Early Intervention Program is to provide additional instructional resources to help learners meet grade-level expectations. To be eligible for EIP support students need two qualifiers: 1 score below 30% in reading and/or math on MAP and 2 score below 15 on an EIP checklist in reading or below 9 in math. If your child qualifies you will receive a letter in the next week or so.

Reading at home is so important to help your child learn. Reading in your native language is just as important as reading in English.
Please read the following article on how reading in your native language helps your child actually become a better reader.
Ms. Bethany Martin Reading Specialist
We are learning the names and sounds of all 26 letters. We are also learning how to separate and blend the sounds we are learning to read and write short 2-3 sound words. Each week, I assess student progress to determine which letters, sounds, and skills students have mastered and use that information to determine which skills to address next week. At times, my groups will change to ensure each student is getting what he or she needs.

Attendance and Late Policy...
Attendance is a critical component to the success of an elementary student. If an unavoidable
situation necessitates an absence, the parent must notify the school office in writing within 2 school days of the student’s return.
An excused absence means that your child is absent for a legitimate reason, for example, personal illness, illness or death in the family, religious holiday, court appointment, quarantine, or conditions rendering school attendance hazardous to health and safety. All other absences will be
considered unexcused. Georgia Law requires school action after five unexcused absences or ten tardies. The process begins with parent notification.
Students are tardy after 8:30 a.m. A parent must sign the student in at the office if arriving after
8:30 a.m. A student is counted present for the day if he/she arrives at or before 8:30 a.m. and stays until at least 11:55 a.m. or arrives before 11:55 a.m. and stays until 3:15 p.m. Partial attendance of a day is considered a tardy. Good attendance is vital to the academic success of students.
● After three parental excuse notes in a semester, parents must submit documentation
from a physician explaining the student's absence.
● If documentation from a doctor is not provided after three parental excuse notes in a semester,
subsequent absences will be marked as unexcused.
● Excessive absences can result in the intervention of the school social worker.
All students are expected to be in uniform. Fridays "Spirit Days" are the only days students should be out of uniform, on these days, students are still expected to wear Marietta/Park Street gear and be weather and school appropriate.
Reminder that all students should be wearing tennis shoes every day.
