What to expect: magic, fantasy creatures
For centuries, mystical creatures of all description were gathered to a hidden refuge called Fablehaven to prevent their extinction. The sanctuary is one of the last strongholds of true magic. Enchanting? Absolutely. Exciting? You bet. Safe? Well, actually, quite the opposite . . .
Kendra and her brother, Seth, have no idea their grandfather is the current caretaker of Fablehaven. Inside the gated woods, ancient laws keep order among greedy trolls, mischievous satyrs, plotting witches, spiteful imps, and jealous fairies. However, when the rules get broken, powerful forces of evil are unleashed, forcing Kendra and Seth to face the greatest challenge of their lives, to save their family, Fablehaven, and perhaps even the world.

Pioneer Weightroom: Blake Lengele
From Coach Chandley:
Last week was Test Week/Competition Week. We had numerous students who did very impressive things, but at the top of the list was Blake Lengele.
One of our competitions requires students to hold a 10lb plate over their head (arms completely locked) for as long as possible. Blake held his 10lb plate for 20 minutes, then, to increase the difficulty, we had decided to add an additional 10lb plate (now he’s holding 20lbs). Blake would go on to hold that 20lbs for an additional 47 minutes. So he held 10lbs for 20 minutes and 20lbs for 47 minutes. The only reason he stopped was the bell rang. Great job Blake!

HOSA: Niswonger Children's Hospital Annual Scarecrow Skedaddle and Shindig
October 20th, 2024 Kings Common Park, Johnson City Tennessee
Every fall, Niswonger Children's Hospital hosts the Scarecrow Skedaddle and Shindig in Johnson City. This year, this fun filled event was dedicated to raising funds for disaster relief efforts in the wake of Hurricane Helene.
The annual Scarecrow Skedaddle includes a variety of kid-friendly vendors, a 5K run, a 1-mile fun run, and modified race options designed for participants of all ages and ability levels. Each year, DCHS HOSA members volunteer and contribute to the festivities by distributing treats, dressing up the participants in personal protective equipment (PPE), and offering photo opportunities with student volunteers dressed in delightful scarecrow costumes.
FFA: Ag Literacy Week and Reading to Our Elementary Pioneers
From David Crockett FFA (Facebook):
We had such a sweet day reading to kindergartners and second graders at Jonesborough middle school. Teaching them the meaning of the word agriculture is always so special.
Today’s fun fact:
Tennessee has over 200 FFA chapters statewide, making it one of the most active states in the nation for agricultural education. Tennessee has approximately 30,000 FFA members.
From David Crockett FFA (Facebook):
Busy day today for our FFA chapter! Day 4 of Ag literacy week, today we got the opportunity to read at another local elementary school.
Todays fun fact:
A single beehive needs to fly roughly 55,000 miles to produce just one pound of honey.
Also today, we completed Christmas decorations for our school!
Can’t wait to complete Ag literacy week tomorrow!
From David Crockett FFA (Facebook):
Agriculture isn’t just a career—it’s the backbone of our nation.
With over 24 million Americans working in agriculture, this industry feeds, clothes, and sustains us every single day. From farmers to researchers, agronomists to marketers, every role plays a vital part in shaping our future. #agcareers #Sustainability #SupportFarmers #ffa
From David Crockett FFA (Facebook):
Today, we concluded AG Literacy Week by reading to kindergartners at Grandview Elementary School! This week has been incredibly rewarding as we helped the younger students gain a better understanding of agriculture and its impact on their daily lives.
We would like to thank everyone who participated in reading and sharing their relations with agriculture. A special thanks goes to our advisors for making this possible and dedicating their time to support us. They consistently find ways to help us enhance our confidence and leadership skills. Thank you!
Fun fact:
1 in 3 people don’t realize how agriculture impacts their daily lives!
Think you’re not involved in agriculture? Think again! Even if you’re not on a farm, agriculture touches your life daily – from the food you eat to the cotton in your clothes.

Meetings with Administration
Parents, do you need to meet or speak to an administrator?
The administrative team understands that situations will arise requiring a meeting with administration. If you would like to meet with an administrator, please contact Laura Geske at geskel@wcde.org or (423)753-1150 so that she can schedule the meeting. You may also email administrators directly at the email address listed under their pictures above.
Administrators' schedules are full with classroom observations, student-parent meetings, professional learning meetings with teachers, and other requirements. When a meeting is not scheduled, those needing a meeting may be asked to wait in the lobby until the administrator is available. This could take a while, especially if the administrator is completing a classroom observation for the duration of the class period. In order to have the time needed to devote to the situation/concern, please schedule a meeting.
Phone calls requesting to speak to an administrator may also require a call back rather than an immediate response. The administrative team understands the urgency of some situations, and the team asks that you please leave a message with one of the office staff, and one of the administrators will return the call as soon as possible. Please be patient with the office staff as they are doing all that they can in that moment.
