PSAT - This Wednesday, 10/21/26
The PSAT will be administered this Wednesday, October 21 from 8:30 am - 12:30 pm. All 11th grade students and 9th & 10th grade AVID students will be taking the PSAT.
The PSAT (Preliminary SAT) is a standardized, digital practice test created by the College Board that mirrors the content, format, and multi-stage adaptive design of the official SAT. It is important for 11th graders to take the PSAT/NMSQT (National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test) because it acts as the sole gateway to major scholarship competitions and provides a low-risk preview of college entrance exams. Here is a link to some practice tests. There are also many free resources on Khan Academy.

Impact Aid Cards - PLEASE COMPLETE & RETURN
If your student has not yet asked you to sign their Impact Aid / Federal Survey card, please ask them about it so that you can sign it and have them return it tomorrow.
These federal survey cards are used to determine the amount of federal funding our school district receives. This critical funding directly supports our classrooms by purchasing instructional materials, updating technology, and funding student programs that benefit all our students. Every returned card ensures our high school receives the maximum financial support we are entitled to, so please take a moment to sign and send it back tomorrow morning. Our goal is to collect 100% of the survey cards from families. We appreciate everyone's support in reaching that goal!

“No Go List” for Excessive Tardies
Getting to class on time every period and every day is essential to our students academic success. Participating in extracurricular dances and activities is a privilege for our students. Therefore, students with 20 or more tardies are NOT eligible to attend the Homecoming football game or the dance due to excessive tardies.
Students can clear up to 10 tardies by attending Saturday School. Our next Saturday School session will be held next semester. If you have any questions about how many tardies your student has, please check your Aeries Parent portal to see the dates and periods of their tardies.

Other ECHS News...
- Attendance Office: Due to the high volume of students being released at the end of the day, we are unable to call out students for the last 20 minutes of the day unless this was arranged the day prior or earlier in the day. Cut off times: M, T, Th, F - 3:00pm / Wed 2:30pm. It is always helpful and more efficient to email attendance.echs@oside.us or call (760-901-8002) in your student’s absence early so that the Attendance office staff can prepare a dismissal pass in advance! We really appreciate your help with this!
- Cell Phone Policy: The purpose of our school wide Cell Phone Policy is to ensure all students will not be distracted by cell phone use. To ensure that our scholars can focus on their academics, we will support them by having students ensure their cell phone is off and placed inside their backpack as they enter the classroom for each teacher. For more information, check out our ECHS Cell Phone Policy as well as our district policy of Off and away during the day - OUSD.
Tardy Policy: As a Responsible student, being on time to each class allows time to organize materials to focus on the lesson and/or activities for that class. Alternatively, students who are late to class, disrupt instruction, distract their classmates and may have a lower grade point average (GPA) due to missed instruction. Link to ECHS Tardy Policy
- Student Tip Line: OUSD aims to be a safe, affirming, and inclusive space for all individuals. If you are aware of a violation that compromises all schools and spaces being safe for all people, or if you are the victim of any incident/violation, please use our anonymous reporting option found on our district website.
