Message from Principal McKillop

Good Afternoon, Cougar Nation!

A warm welcome to all new families and students who are joining our school community, and to all others, welcome back for the 2026-2027 school year!

This is my midsummer newsletter that informs you of upcoming dates and events, with some additional information from other departments. Once classes begin, you can expect a regular newsletter every other Friday. It will arrive in your inbox via SchoolMessenger using the email address you have listed in PowerSchool.

Please mark your calendars for the Meet & Greet with Administration and School Counseling on Monday, August 17, at 6:00 pm. Look for my next newsletter on August 14. I am excited to welcome all students on the First Day of School on Thursday, August 27.

Have a wonderful weekend, and GO COUGARS!

Best,
Heather

Return-to-School Checklist Return-to-School Checklist

Electronic "First-Day Packet" Forms

Before mid-August, look out for an email from PowerSchool with a "snapcode," a unique 15-character security key, that directs you to fill out the “First Day Packet" forms for your student online. These forms include some mandatory acknowledgments, such as handbooks and relevant district policies, as well as optional permissions, including parental approval of photo/video media use, consent to participate in activities, and survey authorizations.

Please fill out the forms as soon as possible to ensure a smooth start to the 2026-2027 school year.

Chromebook Distribution

The “First Day Packet" forms include the annual Chromebook use form. This permission has to be on record for your student to receive a Chromebook for the 2026-2027 school year.

On the first day of school, Thursday, August 27, TASC homeroom teachers will have Chromebooks ready to distribute to those students for whom the Chromebook permission form has been received. If your child kept their device over the summer for academic reasons, they still need a signed Chromebook form before the first day of school, or the device will be collected and returned only after the form has been completed.

If your student is a rising sophomore, junior, or senior, please know that chargers were not collected at the end of last school year. Your student should therefore have a USB-C charger at home, ready to use when they receive their Chromebook. Grade 9 and transfer students will receive a charger with their Chromebook.

Applying for Free and Reduced Lunch

The ConVal School District participates in the federal program offering free and reduced-priced school breakfasts and lunches. Checking your eligibility and applying helps your family, reduces student food service debt, and maximizes the Adequacy Aid that our schools receive from the state. Student Schedules

Student schedules for the 2026-2027 school year will be available in the PowerSchool Portal in mid-August. An email will be sent to parents and students when access to the portal has been enabled and schedules are available to be viewed. School counselors will be available during the week of August 17 for any schedule questions or adjustments that may be needed. Please visit our School Counseling page for more information.

Athletics Athletics

All students interested in participating in athletics this fall need to register by going to the ConVal Athletics webpage, and clicking on the Sports Registration tab. Don’t wait until the last minute! Register now so that you will be ready to go. Students AND parents need to complete the registration/permission online forms. Students cannot participate until registration is completed.

There will be a mandatory meeting for all fall student-athletes and their parents in August. More information about this will be sent early next week from our Director of Athletics and Co-Curricular Activites, so be sure to check your email!

Open Positions: We are looking to fill three open athletics positions: an assistant football coach, a varsity golf coach, and an athletic trainer. If you or someone you know is interested, please visit the ConVal District Careers webpage by clicking here.
