Junk In Your Trunk SADD Event!
Friday afternoon, December 19, the Omro High School S.A.D.D.( Students Against Destructive Decisions) group hosted the “Junk in Your Trunk” event to better help teen drivers to be prepared for winter driving. The event began with students, staff, administration, and Officer Peeters braving the cold outdoors while students rummaged their vehicles to find useful, interesting, and crazy items to complete a 26 item scavenger hunt. Items like a penny, food, shoe, first aid kit, air freshener, tissue were all found.
Back inside the high school commons, students shared and counted their items with the rest of the group. Just a few unique items found were: a huge pot for cooking, a gallon pail of softballs and a small French fry. A few trivia questions were asked and some driving myths were shared. Students won some great prizes: ice scrapers, flashlights, tire gauges, gloves, emergency kits and much more. Top winners received gift cards for BP station, Subway, and Kwik Trip. Our winners with the most items found were: Gabe M., Jeremy B., JoAnn L. Leslie A.; and
our top winner with 20 out of 26 items found on the scavenger hunt was Claudia K.
Thank you to all other participants: Nic. G. Evan K. Landon T. Luz O. Everyone did a great job either finding a lot of items or having a really organized, clean vehicle.
Thank you to all administration and staff members who had to be out in the cold: Mrs. Cady, Officer Peeters, Connie Bernier, Jaime Ellison. You were so appreciative! Thank you for helping SADD with this event. Thank you to all of the SADD members who helped to make this event such a success: Carissa B., McKenzie B., Angelina B., Kyrie F., Ayla N., Layla P., Audrey T., Oliver W., and Tana Z. I overheard helpers and participants say it was a lot of fun! Students are already looking forward to this event next year! Thank you, everyone!

Safe Routes to School Reminders
Safe habits start with YOU! If you’re walking behind or near a car, always try to make eye contact with the driver — that way, you know they see you! Remember: if you can’t see the driver, they probably can’t see you either! When behind a car, look out for the white, “reverse lights”. When these are lit, the car is in the process of backing up. And just because you are on a sidewalk, does not mean you don’t have to look out for vehicles. Keep your eye open and up and not down at your phone!
