8th Grade Promotion 2023
Wed. June 7th at Sierra Vista K-8 School at 6 PM
Promotion Information
Sierra Vista 8th Grade Families,
Our promotion celebration is an opportunity to celebrate our 8th grade students promoting to high school. This is not a graduation ceremony. We like to save that type of celebration for the end of high school. The tradition at Sierra Vista K-8 to hold a promotion celebration began with our first 8th grade class in June of 2018.
All 8th Grade Students Must Arrive by 5:45 PM: Upon arrival, 8th grade students will go to their assigned rooms. Room assignments are assigned by the students' last names in rooms 28, 18, 15, 19, 20 and 17.
Room Assignments
Algere - Burrell in rm. 28
Burton - Fawson in rm. 18
Felton - Lester in rm. 15
Lewis - Murphy in rm. 19
Mazayyid - Rodriguez in rm. 20
Russell - Zelaya in rm. 17
Promotion Practice: There will be a promotion practice on Wed. June 7th in the morning. If for any reason a student misses the promotion practice, the procedures will be reviewed prior to the ceremony.
Promotion Procedures: Staff will review the promotion procedures again with students at 5:45 PM. It's important that all students check in by 5:45 PM. Please be on time.
Middle School Gate Entrance and the Back Gate on Greenwich Circle: Both gates will open at 5:30 PM for guests to enter and set up their chairs. It is important that guests bring their own chairs. Chairs such as camping or sports chairs are highly suggested. We will not have any extra chairs for guests. Guests may stand behind seated guests. The ceremony will last one hour.
Promotion Certificate: In order for students to receive their promotion certificate, students must have all textbooks, school Chromebooks and library books returned and be debt-free of outstanding charges. Student textbooks and library books due are by Thursday, May 25th. Questions regarding textbooks, library books or any outstanding fees due may be directed to Mrs. Hobbs. Email Mrs. Hobbs by clicking here.
Pictures: We will have an opportunity for guests to take pictures during the ceremony. More information will be given at the ceremony.
Participation in the Promotion Ceremony is a privilege. Any 8th grade student suspended on the day of promotion will not be allowed to attend. We bring this reminder up because we notice an increase of negative student behavior during this time of year. Each year, we remind students to finish strong by maintaining positive behavior so they can enjoy all the fun activities planned.
Chairs: Guests will need to bring their own chair or remain standing for the hour long ceremony. We do not have enough chairs for guests. There are only enough chairs for students and staff. Sorry for the inconvenience. Sports chairs or camping chairs are ideal.
Heat: Although we hold the ceremony at 6 PM, there have been ceremonies in the past where temperatures have been in the high 90's. I highly recommend students and guests bring water bottles.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me at cbozzini@vacavilleusd.org.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Bozzini
