Our Mission Our Mission

Norview High School, our mission is to empower and inspire every student to reach their full potential. We strive to equip our students with the knowledge, skills, and character necessary to become responsible contributing members of society. Our staff is committed to building a positive school culture where our diverse student population can “take flight”.

Our hearts remain heavy following the tragic events of October 7 and the heartbreaking loss of one of our students. This tragedy has deeply affected our entire Norview community, and we extend our heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, and everyone impacted by this loss.

As we navigate this difficult time, I recognize that our students, staff, and families are experiencing many emotions, including grief, fear, and uncertainty. Please know that your feelings matter, and you are not alone. Norfolk Public Schools psychologists, counselors, social workers, and community partners are available to provide comfort, guidance, and emotional support to those who need it.

The safety and well-being of our students and staff remain a priority. While we cannot take away the pain of this tragedy, we can continue to care for one another, offer support, and stand together as a school community.

Discover Your Strengths with the ASVAB!

Not sure what you want to do after high school? The ASVAB is more than a military test! It can help students identify their strengths, explore careers that match their skills and interests, and make informed decisions about college, training programs, employment, or military service.

Testing Dates: October 8 • November 5 • December 3 • January 20 • February 14 • March 14 • April 14

Taking the ASVAB does not require a commitment to the military. It is a great opportunity to learn more about yourself and explore your options for life after high school.

VDOE Approves Higher Cut Scores for Virginia Standards of Learning Tests

In September 2025, the Virginia Board of Education approved higher cut scores for Virginia students on our Standards of Learning (SOL) tests in reading and mathematics. This will align Virginia’s proficiency cut scores with national benchmarks and ensure proficiency on state tests reflects student mastery of Virginia’s more rigorous academic standards. In December 2025, the Board approved a four-year, phased-in implementation of those higher cut scores, with the first increase in cut scores occurring in the 2026-2027 school year.

For more information, visit the VDOE's website on these changes here:
