Science came to life in Classroom 403!
Our science teacher, Mrs. Sherburne (ELC), transformed the classroom into a laboratory of discovery. Through dynamic experiments, students explored the states of matter solid, liquid, and gas sparking curiosity, critical thinking, and genuine excitement for learning. The expressions of wonder and active participation reflected the impact of passionate and meaningful instruction.
Thank you, Mrs. Sherburne, for inspiring our young scientists every day.
Mr. Mungillo and Ms.Viviana
Justice Unit
We worked together with the students to create posters as a follow up to our story All Are Welcome as part of our What is Justice unit.
BERKOWITZ SCHOOL UPDATES
Celebrating 100 Days of School
Students at the Berkowitz celebrated the 100th Day of School by welcoming families into math classrooms to take part in special 100th Day activities. Students worked alongside their parents to practice counting to 100 with Fruit Loops, graph data, and explore fractions in engaging ways. First grade students added to the celebration by dressing up as 100 year olds! It was a great way to recognize 100 days of hard work and highlight the strong learning happening in our classrooms.
HOOKS SCHOOL UPDATES
Celebrating 100 Days of School
1st Grade celebrated the 100th day of school! We worked together to stack 100 cups and counted by tens all the way to 100. It was exciting for students to see the cups get taller and taller. We also made Fruit Loop necklaces. We counted 100 colorful cereal pieces and put them on a string. It took a long time, but we helped each other. Some of us made patterns with the colors. When we were done, we were able to wear our 100th day necklaces proudly!
Box Method Rolling
Students in 305's math class perfected their 2x2 multiplication skills by participating in a "Box Method Rolling" game. They solved problems with a partner, analyzed each other's work, and gave feedback in real time. We are working hard to build these skills and apply them throughout other aspects of math!
KELLY SCHOOL UPDATES
Experimental Art
The 4th grade students at Kelly learned about the artist Paul Klee and then experimented with materials to make their own abstract portraits using geometric or organic shapes. They then colored each section or shape using analogous colors to make these awesome looking portraits.
Sokolowski School Celebrates
The month of February is American Heart Month and the Sokolowski School celebrated it in several ways. We also linked it to the ACTION and DETERMINATION blocks of the Pyramid of Success.
In Physical Education classes students learned about the circulatory system and how their heart works. As a culminating activity, all students participated in the Heart Obstacle Course during our Early Release day. Students moved around a series of obstacles as they pretended to be the blood moving around the body. Students crawled through a tunnel representing a vein, they army crawled through the right ventricle, picked up oxygen in the lungs by doing step ups, waited for the valve to open to move from the atrium to the ventricle, rolled down the wedge mat representing the left ventricle, traveled through hula hoop tunnels representing an artery, learned heart facts in the brain, delivered oxygen to the muscles by doing med ball slams and so much more! The students started by carrying blue objects to represent deoxygenated blood and after they went to the lungs they got a red item to represent oxygenated blood. Once they finished they went through the cycle all over again! In addition, students will learn how to take ACTION to keep their heart healthy and strong through healthy eating and exercise when we return from vacation.
Students also learned how to take ACTION if someone is having a heart related emergency at our School Meeting. Students watched a video created by last year's Student Council members and Specialist teachers explaining what to do in the event of an emergency. The whole school then learned how to do hands-only CPR to the tune of Baby Shark! Check out the Sokolowski Physical Education website for a video with directions on how to perform hands-only CPR and additional heart safety skills. Students were asked to teach at least one person at home about these life saving skills. Saving lives is serious; learning how can be fun.
On Tuesday, we celebrated 100 days of school!
Thank you to all the families who joined us and helped make this celebration so special. Your support means so much to our school community!
CLARK AVE. MIDDLE SCHOOL UPDATES

In Ms. Trigg's 5th grade science classroom at Clark Avenue Middle School, each homeroom competed for the longest amount of Deep Focus and Flow times! Homeroom 102 surpassed the rest with a total of 19 minutes and 11 seconds of diligent, independent, focused work and was given a Pupusa Party as a reward! Way to go, 102!

CHELSEA HIGH SCHOOL UPDATES
Performance at the State of the City
CHS Senior Natalia Merino Barahona performed the "Star-Spangled Banner" at this year's State of the City for Chelsea's City Council meeting. Natalia performed beautifully, and will also be part of an upcoming trip, along with the CHS Cantare and Jazz Band, for a special performance in Walt Disney World.
CHS Student Summit
Today, nearly 200 students participated in Chelsea High School’s first Student Summit of 2026! Freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors were invited to the library to share their experiences and perspectives as CHS students in small focus groups. The event was student-led, with discussions facilitated by our CHS Reimagination Student Team. We are excited to capture a wide range of student voices and look forward to elevating them again at our follow-up Student Summit on April 17th.
Cooking Class
Ms. Osebhajajeme recently led a cooking class with our post-graduate students. During this lesson, students learned how to prepare basic sandwiches, including egg sandwiches and ham and cheese sandwiches. With Ms. Osebhajajeme guiding the instructions, students were able to take the lead in preparing their own meals while she provided support as needed.
In the photo, you can see Sunaina taking the lead and confidently guiding her peers during the cooking activity. This hands-on lesson helped students build independent living skills, follow step-by-step directions, practice kitchen safety, and gain confidence in preparing simple meals on their own. We are proud of the responsibility and teamwork our post-graduate students demonstrated. Thank you Ms. Osebhajajeme for believing in our students!
