Student Parking at Blackfoot High School

Parents, students and patrons:

Below is a message from the Blackfoot Police Department that was released to the public on their Facebook page, and the City of Blackfoot's Facebook page, back in August. Please read and be informed of the available parking areas, parking restrictions, and the actions taken if violated:

As Blackfoot High School students begin their 2022-2023 school year, we want to remind them, and their parents, of Blackfoot City Ordinance 7-4-10: PARKING NEAR PUBLIC SCHOOLS
B. Student Parking Restricted To Certain Areas: During the hours of seven thirty o'clock (7:30) A.M. to four o'clock (4:00) P.M., Monday through Friday, when school is in session, all students of any public school located in the city shall park their vehicles only in areas or parking lots designated by the school and/or the police chief, for student parking. Notice of such designation shall be given by each respective school or the police department to the students in a manner that provides reasonable notice to the students of the areas or parking lots wherein they may park their vehicles. (2003 Code § 10-11-09)

Attached map (shaded in green) defines current areas students can park around Blackfoot High school. Any deviations from these areas will result in a Parking Ticket from Blackfoot Police. Private property such as a driveway or yard is permitted with property owners permission. On-street parking in front of someone's residence is not allowed regardless of residence permission.

WELL DONE!!!

We are so excited to announce that 688 students at BHS were on Honor Roll for the first trimester of the 2022-2023 school year. Of those 688 students, 200 had 4.0 GPA. Well done students!

Floral Department Workshop

Students in the BHS Floral Design and Greenhouse program are working on their first winter project: fresh evergreen wreaths. Students green the wreath frames, learn how to tie different bows and also apply different mechanics to add decorations. They are encouraged to be as creative as they like and make the designs their own. These wreaths are part of a subscription program that is offered each season, and subscribers receive a wreath and three live flower arrangements for the season. Mrs. Bender also hosted their second annual wreath making workshop for members of the community on December 10th. There were 22 attendees, plus some student helpers, and they all got to make their own holiday wreaths! It has been a really fun addition to our winter seasonal activities. We post regular updates on our Facebook page: Blackfoot High School Floral Design and Greenhouse. You are welcome to reach out to Mrs. Bender via email if you are interested in subscribing: bendkels@d55.k12.id.us

A WORD FROM THE ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT:

Athletics have been going strong this month. We have Girls Basketball, Boys Basketball, and Wrestling all doing amazing. We have had a lot of students signing their letters of intent to colleges this month. We have had Maddi Duke continuing her softball career at Dawson Community College in Glendive MT, Addi Adams continuing her Volleyball career at Treasure Valley Community College in Ontario OR, Amaya Luna and Azia Martinez continuing their softball career at Treasure Valley Community College in Ontario OR, and Matt Thomas continuing his cross country and track career at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater OK. We are super proud of our students for taking that next step in their careers and wish them luck. We love to see our fans in the crowd cheering on our Broncos! Thank you for supporting all our athletes. If you would like to come out and watch click on the link below, follow the district facebook page, or check out our web page for the schedules.

A MESSAGE FROM THE LIBRARY

Mrs. Gerardi’s Creative Writing class will soon be partnering with Mrs. Nelson in the BHS Library to encourage reading. Students are choosing their favorite childhood book to give to other schools in our district. Inside each book high school students will write a short message to the younger reader to encourage them to continue to read and to love reading as they grow and develop. Funds for these books are being furnished by a grant our school library received to help create a culture of reading in our area. What is your favorite book, both current and from your childhood?
