MONTHLY BEHAVIOR INCENTIVES
SEPTEMBER
Each month, HMS students are challenged to meet a specific behavior expectation. For the month of September, the target behavior expectation was "PARTICIPATION". Students who received fewer than 3 minors/1 major referrals in this category were allowed to be out of uniform on September 30th. I'm proud to report that 99.76% participated! HMS students are the best students around!
FALL FUN AT HMS!
OCTOBER
HMS students who meet the target behavior of "FOLLOWING DIRECTIONS" will be allowed to wear costumes to school on Friday, October 31st! Any student who receives 3 minors (= 1 Major) in the not following directions category will not be able to participate in October’s monthly event.
Your child’s safety is our first concern. We ask that you guide their selection of costumes and accessories in a manner that will allow them to comfortably work and learn throughout the day. If your child decides not to wear a costume, they can wear a school appropriate Halloween themed shirt (one that does not encourage violence) with their jeans.
Any items/costumes that encourage violence are inappropriate for children at school. Therefore, students will not be allowed to bring toy guns, swords, pitchforks, or other toy weapons. Students are not allowed to wear masks; however, students may paint their faces. Face paint should be appropriate and not include fake blood or inappropriate symbols or words.
Finally, please do not allow your child to bring candy on Halloween, they will receive a spooky treat at school.
Thank you for your cooperation. We are looking forward to EVERYONE having an enjoyable day!
BACK AGAIN AT HMS: BOO GRAMS!
6th grade students must submit a current health exam & proof of
immunizations by October 15th in order to avoid
school exclusion per Illinois State Board of Education school code.
IESA sports physicals are for student athletes and do not meet the school code requirement for the IL child health exam. They are to be updated annually as they are valid for 365 days. Sports physicals should be submitted to the athletic department.
Ronald McDonald Care Mobile will be at HMS/Graves 10/7.
Please talk to your children about not sharing food at lunch in order to protect students with food allergies.
- When you send your student to school, you are attesting that your student is in good health and ready for learning. Follow these guidelines on when to return to school for our top three symptoms of illness:
-Fever (100.0 or higher): The student may return to school after being fever free 24hrs without fever reducing medication.
-Vomit: The student may return to school after being free of vomiting for 24hrs.
-Diarrhea: The student may return to school after being free of diarrhea for 24hrs.
