Principal's Update
10/27/2025
Good Morning Memorial Families,
It was so nice to see so many of you at the Spooktacular last Thursday evening. It continues to be one of my favorite nights that so many of our families enjoy together. Great thanks to the Memorial PTO for organizing and volunteering so many hours in support of our students and families.
This coming week we have a few big events happening during the school day.
Bus Evacuations: On Monday, students will get onto a school bus during the school day and review the rules of safe riding with the driver, the principals, and our resource officer, Officer O’Connor. After we review the rules, the students will practice a back door evacuation out of the bus. Even if your child does not ride a bus, they will get to ride on one for a field trip and so we like to review the safety procedures with everyone.
Lockdown Drill: We postponed our previous drill that we had planned earlier in the school year. We will conduct our first practice at some point this week. During this drill, students will practice where they do if a lockdown is called. Please reach out if you have any specific questions or concerns. I am always happy to talk through this with families who feel uneasy.
Cardboard Creation Day: Thank you to everyone who volunteered for Cardboard Creation Day! We are looking forward to seeing what the kids design and create this year! This will happen on Friday morning.
PJ and Stuffy Day: As a reward for the Fun Run, we will hold an all school PJ and Stuffy Day on Friday as well. Children may choose to wear their pajamas and bring a (reasonablly sized) stuffed animal friend with them to school if they wish.
Professional Development Day: We will be dismissing students at noon on Friday so that our teachers can engage in professional learning across the district on Friday afternoon.
Have a wonderful week!
Warmly,
Wendy
