Dear Lansdowne Middle School Families,

We are off to a wonderful start to the school year! Our first day of school was filled with positive energy, engaged learning, and excitement as students reconnected with friends, met their teachers, and began establishing routines for success. We are proud of how our students represented themselves and our school community.

Thank you for partnering with us each morning to ensure your child is prepared and ready to learn. Your support in helping students arrive at school on time, rested, and ready to engage makes a tremendous difference in their success.

As we move forward, we want to emphasize the importance of consistent attendance and punctuality. Every day of learning matters, and regular attendance is directly connected to academic achievement, social growth, and overall student success. When students are present and on time, they are better able to participate in instruction, build relationships, and take advantage of all the opportunities our school has to offer.

Thank you for your continued partnership and commitment to your child's education. We look forward to a fantastic year of learning and growth together.

Sincerely,

Ryan Warfel

Principal

September Suicide Prevention Month September Suicide Prevention Month

User uploaded image

Suicide prevention is not one moment or one person's job. It lives in the relationships we build, the support we offer, and the communities we create together. This year's theme highlights the importance of:

  • Strengthening connections that protect people before a crisis occurs
  • Making sure everyone knows where to turn and knows it before they need it
  • Building communities where people feel safe reaching out for help
  • Supporting recovery and healing long after a crisis has ended

Suicide prevention touches every part of life – from families and schools to workplaces, faith communities, and health care systems. When people feel connected, valued, and supported, they are more likely to seek help. And when communities come together around a shared commitment to prevention, lives are saved.

If you have any concerns that your child is showing signs of suicidal behavior please reach out to your Pediatrician to determine if mental health services should be provided. For more information you can contact the school care team consisting of School Counselors and Social Worker.

MSDE Resources for Families

The Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) has identified several resources for families:

  • Parents/guardians can identify a “standby guardian” to care for their child if they are detained or deported, by completing this Maryland Judiciary form and providing a copy to schools, health care providers, and family members.

Families trying to locate someone who has already been detained, may use the

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detainee locator.

  • Legal assistance is available from a variety of sources, including immigration lawyers in private practice, accredited representatives (non-attorneys who assist individuals in immigration proceedings), and legal-aid organizations:

  • The People’s Law Library of Maryland Immigration Advocates Network
  • Immigration Advocates Network

  • Several immigration organizations have provided guidance related to preparing for and/or responding to immigration action.
  • Family Preparedness Plans – Michigan Immigration Rights Center
  • ACLU
  • Immigrant Resource Center
