Parent-Teacher Conference: More Like Parent-Teacher Confriends

It was great seeing so many of you take time out of your busy schedules to come in and meet with your children's educators. For some of you this meant babysitters, coordinating family, taking time off work, etc. Thank you for investing in your child's education and helping build a strong school-home connection.

The October tradition at The Reeves of a costume parade the last Friday in October is almost here! A reminder that if participating, costumes must be school appropriate. K-5, am ECP, All Day ECP, and PM ECP all have designated parade times where families can come to watch their children walk around The Reeves outside. For students/families who do not wish to participate we will have an option to remain with staff and do an indoor activity during the parade.

Parade Times on 10/30

Elementary: 9:00am

AM ECP: 10:50

All Day ECP: 12:45

PM ECP: 2:10

The Smokehouse is back! Next Wednesday and Thursday the Woburn Fire Department will roll their Smokehouse trailer to The Reeves for some hands on fire safety lessons with all K-5 students. K-2 is Wednesday and 3-5 is Friday. If concerned for your child's participation, please reach out to your classroom teacher.

I am excited to share that we will continue to work with the Massachusetts Department of Transportation in conducting a Reeves Elementary School Walk Audit. This will take place on Friday, November 6th at 9:15am. We will be looking at the walk from Waltham Street to The Reeves. If any families wish to join and participate please reach out to Mr. Comenitz. We will continue to do everything we can to support families and their safety.

Thank you,

Matt, Michele, and Lisa

The GaGa Pit That Keeps Giving!

Our new GaGa pit has gotten some great use so far this year. Kids are often seen playing GaGa in it as well as the occasional sand castle play. Either way, bottom line is that kids are happier at Reeves with its creation and we have our own Reeves alumni, Mayookh, to thank!

Additionally, on 21st of October, Mayookh dropped off a check to Reeves PTO for the amount of $219.54. These were the remaining funds which will now go towards Reeves students.

A BIG wolfpack thankyou to Mayookh for all he continues to do! 🐺

**Rescheduled to FRIDAY OCTOBER 30th!**

Reeves families - join us for a night of spooktacular fun at the 3rd annual Trunk or Treat event. Entry fee is only $1.00 per trick or treater - OR - donate a canned food item. Bring a bag of candy to donate to the 5th grade float and be entered into a special contest! There is no pre-purchase necessary to attend this event. For safety, all students MUST be accompanied by an adult for the entirety of the event.

HOST A TRUNK - in order for this event to be successful we depend on the creative minds of our Reeves community members! To host a trunk, you can register HERE.

We cap the entries at 40 cars, so get your spot soon! Reservation for a trunk spot is only $15 and this goes to our PTO fund which supports enrichment, field trips, and more!

*If you previously registered/paid to be a host trunk for the 10/16 date, please check your email for updates on how to recommit to the new date or receive a refund if you are unable to attend*

Costumes and Cartoons

Saturday 10/31 from 9:00am - 10:30am

This is the rescheduled "Cartoons in the Park" event that was rained out earlier in September. Come with your blankets, breakfast, coffee and costumes to watch some morning cartoons with friends out in the Reeves Field. Not a drop off event.

Volunteers Needed for upcoming events: Election Day Bake Sale, Walk-a-thon, Winter Decoration making, and more. Check here to see ways you can help out.

5th Grade continues to look for candy donations for the Lions Club Halloween Parade float they will be putting together. There is a hungry wolf right outside the main office where all donations can be dropped off.

Wolfpack Walk-a-thon is coming November 20th! This is the PTO's largest fundraiser of the year and brings in most of the funds that support our efforts throughout the year; including field trip busses, enrichment programs, and more. Keep and eye out for more information coming from the PTO in the next week.

Enrichment Updates:

The Brain Break Academy visited us this week and hosted two assemblies for students in grades K-2 and 3-5. We had so much fun playing along and getting our bodies moving! Check out their YouTube Page HERE

------------------------------

Author, Sarah McKinnon, will be coming to visit us December 4th. She will be talking to students about her recent book "The Cheerful Chip". A heartwarming children’s story that helps kids discover the joy of confidence, kindness, and staying true to who they are, even when the world around them changes.

---------------------------

NED, coming December 17th

Through a powerful mix of storytelling, illusions, and incredible yo-yo tricks, students will go on an unforgettable Mindset Mission where they meet NED β€” our character whose name stands for Never Give Up, Encourage Others, and Do Your Best. Along the way they discover….

β€’ The Power of YET – If you’re not good at something, it just means you’re not good at it... YET

β€’ The importance of encouraging others…. and

β€’ How to embrace learning… because sometimes students have an β€˜I Know’ response that shuts off their brains!

---------------------------------

Coming in for parent conferences next week? Be sure to stop by the PTO table near the front door to get more information about all events listed above. Be sure to follow us on social media to see all the latest and greatest things that are happening at the Reeves!

  • Enter the code β†’ and they’re in!

Watch the quick video below to see the new parent sign-up flow in action.
