Capital City SDA School
Capital City SDA School, Indianapolis, IN
Our students have been busy at work after beginning our third academic quarter! State testing has begun, along with a slew of other activities our students have participated in.
In early February, our students took a field trip to the No. 1-ranked Indianapolis Children’s Museum, where they were able to participate in various STEM-inspired activities. Alongside some wonderful chaperons, they were able to explore and spend the day learning through hands-on activities; whether with technology, with water, or through other means.
February is also synonymous with “Black History Month,” where our students have been busy learning and completing projects about important and distinguished African Americans who influence our country for the better.
UPCOMING EVENTS:
Black History Month Luncheon
LRC Literacy Day
Science Fair
Spring Week of Prayer
SPECIAL THANKS: Capitol City SDA School wants to give a special “thank you” to Pastor Christopher Clark, who has been re-assigned to another church. His continuous support of Adventist Education will forever live in our school and students. Our prayer is that God continues to bless his ministry.

Faithletes: Always in Training!
Train up a child in the way they should go; even when they are old, they will not depart from it." Proverbs 22:6
The Lord continues to bless our small school with big blessings. Flint Fairhaven and Peterson-Warren Academy (PWA) continue to strengthen their partnership through collaborative events that enrich our students' learning experiences. We are on year three of team teaching where Miss Nieman teaches 6-8th grade math and Mrs. Jefferson teaches 6-8th Language Arts. Recently, Fairhaven joined PWA's Reading Fair, fostering a love for literacy, while PWA participated in Fairhaven's Black History Month program, celebrating culture and heritage.
Looking ahead, we are excited to join together once again with PWA for Education Sabbath in April, where students will showcase their talents and spiritual growth. This ongoing collaboration continues to create meaningful opportunities for our students to grow academically, spiritually, and socially. Stay tuned for more exciting events. Follow our school on Facebook and Instagram.
Initiatives and Special Events include:
- Student Week of Prayer lead by our students
- Joint Education Sabbath with PWA
- Launching a T-shirt fundraiser to help support student tuition
- Students learning video editing skills for future ministry opportunities

The Schools Needs: a new water fountain, sidewalk, and hallway light repairs, an updated playground, and constituents willing to lend their time, talents, and treasures!
Special Thanks: We want to thank Lake Union Conference for sending some funds to our small school to help in various areas, our Fairhaven Church family for supporting the school, our school families for sending their students to Fairhaven and being a part of their development, and Peterson Warren Academy for partnering with us.

We are excited to be a part of Pentecost 2025. Our proclamation event is entitled "Heavenly Adventures." We've begun preparation for our events by participating in the 10 Days of Prayer January 8-17, 2025. During our 10 days of prayer, we invited several pastors to make presentations on prayer to better prepare the students to be prayer warriors. We are preparing for a special week of prayer for our students April 28- May 2, 2025. The theme will be the Fruits of the Spirit.
Additional Special Events and Initiatives include:
- We had a special chapel presented by Elder Brandon Dent, Sr, who also presented each of the students with a copy of his book, "The Gospel According to Yardwork."
- We were blessed to be able to share God's blessings by giving out of 5 Thanksgiving Food Bags that included a turkey in each.
- We had a wonderful Reading Fair and was joined by our sister school, Flint Fairhaven, who came over to join and participate with us in this fun event.
- We joined Flint Fairhaven to participate in their Black History program.
- Our Black History Month Program March 1st at our school.
- In preparation for beginning our afterschool program, the teachers and after school staff had CPR/First Aid training. All teachers now have their certification in this area.
- We are now currently offering our after-school program to our student and the community. This is possible through the Out of School Time grant we have received. We are offering Tutoring, S.T.E.A.M. class, Drama and Recreation four days a week from 3:30-6:00 pm. Additional classes are on the way.
The School Needs: Laptops/tablets, teacher support personal, smart boards, electric pencil sharpeners, a new boiler, new desks, and tables for the lunchroom.
Special Thanks: to the Lake Union Education Dept. for giving us funding to enhance our education program. Thank you also to Darlene Brown, Pam Bertram, Angelita Crawford and the teaching staff who offer their support for our OST (Out of School Time) after school programming. Finally, special thanks to our volunteers - Dr. Tim Gardner, Mr. Manford Walker, Mrs. Sharon Smith, and Mr. Douglas Williams without whom our school would not be the same.
