A Note from Dr. Neubeck

The first week of the 2023-24 school year is in the books. Walking around the halls and seeing the smiling faces of kids and staff has been great. I hope the first week was a successful one for your student and family. It can be a nervous time for some, especially our new students. I want to welcome all of our new families to Byron Public Schools. I hope you find our school and community to be supportive and welcoming. You are now a Byron Bear and we hope you have a fantastic year.

These next couple of weeks are exciting times for our community. The kids will be making new friends, our students will start getting into a routine, and we have several athletic events going, including homecoming week September 11-15. We have had several soccer games in the new stadium and will have the first varsity football game in the stadium this Friday night. Not all parts of the stadium will be finished so we ask for your patience and cooperation if you go out to the games. Please read and follow the expectations below so that everyone can have a wonderful experience at the game. One change will be that students in grade 8 and below must be accompanied by an adult when they enter our games. Parents, please do not just drop off kids as they will not be allowed in the game. I am excited to have the community come together to experience our new facilities and support our athletes who have been working very hard this fall.

Thank you for choosing Byron Public Schools for your children. This year we are starting school with about 2310 students. I am speaking for the staff when I say that we love working with the children and their families. Every day is an adventure but it is an adventure that gives us energy and drives us to be the best for our students. It is going to be a great year.

Go Bears!

Byron Athletic Stadium Expectations - PLEASE READ

Dear Byron Community,

We are excited to host our first football game in the new stadium. Though there are still some punch list items to attend to, we have done our best to have it as functional as possible for Friday. The beautiful new stadium will be a huge improvement from our previous site, and along with that improvement comes some changes. Please make yourself familiar with the changes before you arrive for kick off. We look forward to hosting all of you this Friday.

  1. Please use any designated parking spots to park on game day. DO NOT PARK ON THE GRASS! The road behind the high school will be closed off to traffic as well. The majority of parking will be available in the front of the school.

  2. Tickets are available at the gate or through Hometown Ticketing @ https://www.bears.byron.k12.mn.us/Page/806 (Everyone must enter through the main gate.

  3. Please feel free to sit in any of the home bleacher sections. Please do not line the fence lines or sit on the marked off hills where we are trying to grow grass.

  4. No animals other than service animals are permitted.

  5. No children 8th grade or under will be allowed admittance without a supervising adult. Please be aware that your children will be turned away at the gate if they do not enter with a supervising adult.

  6. There is no space for children to run wild at the new stadium. Parents, please be responsible for your child and oversee their behavior and wearabouts.

  7. Unless directed by event staff no fans should enter the track / playing service area.

  8. No outside food, beverage or play items such as football and basketballs are permitted inside of the gates.

  9. Please keep your emotions in check. Cheer loudly for your team and refrain from yelling at officials, players, or other fans.

The Bears season is off to a great start! The team and school appreciate all of your support, and look forward to seeing all of you as they break in the new stadium against Benilde St. Margaret’s on Friday September 8th!

Go BEARS!

Byron High School Student Saves Life

Anthony Severino-Goodsell rescued a drowning man at Foster-Arend Lake in Rochester. After Anthony got the man above water, he swam to shore with the man under his arm. Anthony is a center for the Byron Bears football team. He credits his strength conditioning for being able to save the man. Anthony is also bilingual and was able to help translate between the man and the EMS. Real life hero, good work here!
