Dear Stewart Elementary Community,

We are so excited to be back to school and seeing your students each day. They are working hard and engaging in their classroom instruction. We are constantly pleased with how polite and respectful they are.

Here are the three things that you need to know for the week.

  1. In conjunction with the 250th Anniversary of the United States, the schools in the Viewmont Cluster are collecting travel sized items (body wash, toothpaste, toothbrushes, facial tissue, shampoo and conditioner, deodorant) and feminine hygiene products for the Viewmont High Teen Center. All donations can be dropped off at the front office by Friday, February 6, 2026.
  2. We invite all families to join Davis Behavioral Health for their Strengthening Families class that will be held here at Stewart.
  3. Make sure that you have January 29 on your calendar for Chinese New Year. ALL Families and Community Members are invited.

Sincerely,

Michelle Yoho and Laura Campbell

Principal and Administrative Intern, Stewart Elementary

Stewart will be hosting an evening program for families through Davis Behavioral Health starting Monday, January 26th at 6:00 pm and ending on March 16th.

Strengthening Families Program is a 7-week program for families who have youth 10 - 14 years old. They meet once a week for 2.5 hours and we provide free dinner and childcare. How the curriculum is structured allows for parents and youth to meet separately for the first hour and then come together for the second hour to do an activity. Each week is a different topic and ranges from establishing rules and following through with consequences to encouraging family meetings and communication, as well as how to navigate peer pressure.

PARENTS WILL LEARN TO

  • Communicate well

  • Understand teens

  • Connect as a family

  • Set boundaries

  • Create family rules

  • Handle family conflict

  • Handle peer pressure

YOUTH WILL LEARN TO

  • Understand parent perspective

  • Refuse peer pressure

  • Listen and play

  • Cope during stressful situations
