* It is very important your child has headphones to use at school. Please check with your child and help them by supplying them if you have not already. Thank you so much!

* Be sure to check your child's electronic work habits checklist - They are updated!

Homework Homework

In your child's Friday folder you will find a copy of their homework log. I believe homework should be flexible and build a connection between the child's school and home life. Reading at home and practicing math facts have been proven to have a direct and positive impact on student success, so these are a major part of the packet. The other optional components include a learning share, just try challenge, blog post and more. The packet will go home each Friday and should be returned the following Friday. This will allow us to calculate and celebrate frequently! Each child will track their own points and we will celebrate when they reach specific landmark numbers (50,100, 200, etc).

Please look it over and initial any activity your child completes throughout the week. Please know you are the parent and can have your child complete additional work if you feel it is necessary. If you have any comments or concerns about homework, feel free to contact me via this newsletter form, text, email, or phone call. I appreciate your input and support.

Thank you!

Thank you to all of the families that supported Shepard by attending or volunteering at the Stallion Stampede. It was a great event and a fabulous fundraising opportunity for our school.

Read Aloud

This week we started our new read aloud titled, Out of My Mind. It is told from the point of view of a girl named Melody. Melody is very intelligent, but is unable to communicate due to having Cerebral Palsy. This week we learned about Melody and analyzed her character traits.
