Lutherville Families,

We made it through a tough weather week here at The Lab. Please know that during the week we followed BCPS's Hot Weather Activity Guidelines and had students hydrate before, during, and after activity as well as take a break in the shade to hydrate when at recess outside. We also offered indoor recess as an option to students on the warmest days. We were glad to find the balance in letting students play and safety.

Tuesday is Back to School Night! This is a great opportunity to learn about school initiatives, get know your student's teacher(s), and find out details for the upcoming year. We will convene as a whole group at 5:30 in the gym, move to our first session at 6:00 and second session for siblings or late arrivals at 6:45. We look forward to hosting you!

In the past week the number of COVID cases has been increasing. Taking a rapid test for COVID is recommended if you are experiencing a fever or experiencing any other symptoms of COVID. Please notify Mrs. Vita, the school nurse, if your child or any other close contact tests positive for COVID. If you have any questions or concerns she can be contacted at 443-809-7385 or svita@bcps.org

Please do not send food deliveries to Lutherville for your children. If a lunch is forgotten we are happy to provide school meals, which are free-of-charge, in the cafeteria. Our office staff will not accept Door Dash or other delivery services for students. As a reminder, the base school lunch and breakfast are free, snacks (chips and ice cream) are available for purchase beyond the base meal.

School Photos Transition to Lifetouch School Photos Transition to Lifetouch

Last Spring we made the decision to transition our school pictures business to a different vendor. We were seeking better customer services practices for our community and communication for our school staff. We are very pleased to share we've entered a new contact partnering with Lifetouch.

The move to Lifetouch offers many benefits to families. There is an attachment that provides further information, but highlights are:

  • Every Lutherville child will receive a photo package, either a package purchased by the family or a proof sheet that includes 3 wallet size pictures and 2 family safe cards.
  • All picture packages include a free digital image.
  • Lifetouch partners with Shutterfly and families receive a special Shutterfly gift when purchasing school pictures on mylifetouch.com and the opportunity to connect to Shutterfly's nearly endless variety of personalized products.
  • Families have the option to change the background of their child's image after their photo is taken to get their favorite look.

We are excited for the opportunities with this change and hope that it serves our community well. Please note the following dates for picture days. Additional information and reminders will come as we get closer:

  • Fall Individuals: November 8th
  • Fall Retakes: January 17th
  • Spring Individuals: April 10th
