"It's a great day to be a Panther"
News & Notes from the Principal
Happy Friday Panther families! It was another great week in the middle school!
I want to give another shout out to all of our students and staff for getting through our state testing. If your child has not completed all of their M-STEP tests, they will in the next few weeks. We will have two more days of STAR testing coming up and then we will be completely done with district and state testing for the year!
This is a reminder for all of our Sixth, Seventh, and Eighth grade students planning on going on the end of the year field trips. Please have your child check in with their teachers about their eligibility and make sure they have fully paid for their trips. Also, it's a great time to encourage them to continue making good choices at school, so they remain eligible.
Finally, I would like to give a huge shout out to all of the educators here at DKMS for everything they do for our students and families. Whether it is Teacher Appreciation Week or not, any day is a great day to thank our educators for all that they do. THANK YOU!!!
As always, I would like to thank our students, staff, families, and community for their hard work and support. Each week we get closer and closer to the finish line. We will stay focused and finish this year strong! Have a great weekend!
It's a great day to be a PANTHER!!!
Thank you,

Working on Reading and Prefix Skills
Some 5th grade students who work with Mrs. Ferguson were practicing repetitive reading skills and learning about prefixes by reading a story out loud to staff in the office. Students did a great job working on their fluency and reading skills!
Building Leadership: Students Participate in Rotary Interact Work
Students from both Delton Kellogg Middle School and the high school recently attended a Rotary meeting alongside Middle School Counselor Mr. Einhardt.
During the meeting, students worked together on Interact leadership planning committees, helping to support service and leadership opportunities in our schools and community.
It was a great experience for these students to collaborate across grade levels, share ideas, and take active roles in planning future Interact activities. Their involvement continues to show strong leadership and Panther pride.
Recess Fun and Lunch Break Activities
Students have been enjoying lunch time and outdoor recess whenever the weather allows. With warmer days, they are taking every chance to get outside, play games, and enjoy time with friends.
When it’s too cold or rainy, students also enjoy spending time with Cooper, our therapy dog, who is always a favorite part of the school day and brings lots of smiles indoors.
Free Breakfast Reminder for DKMS Families
Here at DKMS, we’ve noticed that many students are not taking advantage of our free breakfast in the morning. Breakfast is an important part of the day—it helps students stay focused, energized, and ready to learn.
We encourage all students to start their day with a healthy breakfast at school, and we also ask parents to help remind and encourage their children to take advantage of this free opportunity. A good breakfast can make a big difference in how students feel and perform throughout the school day.
Hand2Hand Partners to Feed Kids This Summer
Hand2Hand is excited to offer their Summer Food Program again this year! They plan to give out nearly 10,000 bags of food to families in the community. Any family with children ages 3–18 can stop by one of their events and receive food for each child—no sign-up needed. They will be partnering with local organizations and joining community events throughout the area, making it easy for families to get support while enjoying activities happening near them.

Field Trip Volunteer Reminder
Parents and guardians who plan to volunteer or chaperone on upcoming field trips must have a completed volunteer form on file before attending. For student safety, all forms must be submitted and approved prior to the trip.
Please turn in completed volunteer forms to the school office as soon as possible to ensure everything is ready before field trip day. If you have questions or need a form, feel free to contact the office or find a printable form below.
Thank you for supporting our students and helping make field trips safe and successful!
