Hello NRMS Families,
That one hour difference when daylight savings time begins is a jolt to the system, but I for one am enjoying the extra daylight in the afternoon. As a sports fan, this time of year is also exciting with the college basketball tournaments, the start of the major league baseball season, and for our students that means time to register for spring sports.
Registration for the spring sports season is now open and will end on Friday afternoon, March 28, 2025. Please ensure that you complete the registration by the deadline to be eligible for the first day of tryouts. This week, we wrapped up the second and final iReady assessment for the year. Similar to the recent reading results, our students showed positive growth on the math assessment. The iReady assessment will flag students if they rush through the test and just click answers. Remarkably, and to the credit of our students we only had one student in the entire school be flagged for rushing on the math assessment. It is a good sign when our students perform their best, even when faced with the less than desirable activity of an online assessment. Well done NRMS students!
We hope to send out course request information next week. Current 6th graders will need to let us know if they intend to study French or Spanish for Grade 7 & 8. Current 7th graders will select electives. We will provide a full list of options with course descriptions so that students can consult with their parent/guardian and make informed choices.
We have updated the dates for some of the MCAS testing dates. See the list below. The first testing dates are April 8 and 10.
