Golden Attendance = Golden Goose Award!
This month, we are launching an exciting initiative to boost student attendance. And, with this in mind, we have several incentives in place for classrooms and grade levels.
Each week, we will feature a "Golden Goose" for every grade level. The class with the best attendance in each grade will receive the "Golden Goose" for the week. Additionally, attendance updates will be shared in our newsletters.
At the end of the semester, the grade level with the highest overall attendance will enjoy an ultimate recess! Also, students with perfect attendance every 9 weeks will receive a certificate from the office.
We appreciate your partnership in promoting excellent attendance. Let’s make this a great month and a great year!
October 13 - 17 is National School Lunch Week!
Pack your bags and join us for a Texas Taste Tour during National School Lunch Week! This year’s theme, “Texas Taste Tour: Your School Lunch Passport,” highlights nutritious meals served at school and healthy foods from Texas.
How students can participate:
Goody Bag Drawing: Each day during National School Lunch Week, elementary students who purchase a complete meal in the cafeteria will be entered to win a Texas-themed goody bag. There will be two winners per campus, and each lunch counts as a new entry (limit one per day). Prize drawings will take place after lunch on Friday, with winners announced the following Monday, October 20.
Taste of Texas Passport: Students will also receive a “Taste of Texas Passport” and have the opportunity to taste a Texas-themed food item each day. They can explore the Taste of Texas and track each item they try. Students who submit their completed passport to the cafeteria manager on Friday will earn a sticker!
Encourage your child to eat in the cafeteria and explore new Texas flavors all week long. Visit SquareMeals.org for more information.
Workout Wednesdays - October 2025
October is always full of energy with our “Shocktober” events, and this year we’re adding something fun and new: Workout Wednesdays!
Each Wednesday in October, staff and students are invited to join in the fun by dressing in their favorite athletic gear, workout wear, or team spirit clothes. Think sneakers, jerseys, headbands, or anything that shows off your active Tiger Pride!
Workout Wednesdays will be on:
October 1 ----- October 8 ----- October 15 ----- October 22 ----- October 29
Let’s make Wednesdays a time to re-energize and celebrate our school spirit together. Thank you for always making our campus a place filled with positivity, teamwork, and Tiger Pride.
And, Wednesday, October 22, is Unity Day!!!! In honor of Unity Day, let's make it ORANGE workout gear!
October is National Farm to School Month!
LTISD is proud to participate in the Farm Fresh Challenge, aiming for “Cream of the Crop” status this year! For 5+ years, LTISD has earned top tier recognition for serving fresh, local foods and helping students learn where their food comes from through taste tests and educational cafeteria signage.
Calling all elementary students: Join the Farm Fresh Challenge and complete our farmer’s market scavenger hunt! In honor of National Farm to School Month, all elementary students are invited to visit a local farmer's market and complete a scavenger hunt. Download the scavenger hunt form on the Food & Nutrition webpage in English or Spanish, check off each item as you find them, and make notes about what you discover.
If students submit their scavenger hunt to Marissa Bell, Dietitian & Marketing Coordinator, at bellm@ltisdschools.org by October 31, they will be presented with a “Local Foods Leader” certificate in their classroom and receive a seed packet so they can grow their own food. Include a photo of your child at the farmer's market with your submission so they can be featured on the cafeteria digital menu screens for friends to see!
Welcome to our Tiger Tune-ups in the Cafe!
At West Cypress Hills Elementary, the café is a place where we practice safety, responsibility, and respect while enjoying time together. To help all of our Tigers be successful, we use the following expectations:
- VOICE LEVEL 1 – Use a quiet voice so everyone can enjoy their meal.
- BE SAFE – Use walking feet, sit properly, and stay seated at the table at all times.
- BE RESPONSIBLE – Eat your own food and keep your hands to yourself.
- BE RESPECTFUL – Use good manners, kind words, and pick up your trash.
These expectations create a safe, positive environment for all students and help our café run smoothly each day.
In addition, our campus holds Tiger ROAR Days (Reviewing Our Actions and Responsibilities.) On these days, teachers and staff pause to reteach and review campus-wide expectations—including café behavior, hallways, and playground routines—so that every Tiger can be reminded of how to be Safe, Responsible, and Respectful. These days give students the chance to reflect, reset, and recommit to showing Tiger Pride in all areas of our school.
Please note: Visitors will not be allowed on campus during Tiger ROAR Days so we can give our full focus to student learning and resetting expectations.
Tiger ROAR Day dates are as follows:
October 14
January 7
March 23
Thank you for your continued partnership. Together, we can ensure every Tiger shines with pride each day!
School Library Advisory Council
In response to Senate Bill 13, our Board of Trustees has established the Lake Travis ISD School Library Advisory Council (SLAC.) The purpose of the SLAC is to formalize a collaborative process between librarians, parents, and community members in the ongoing development of strong library collections that support student achievement and meet state standards. This process helps ensure transparency, parent involvement, and a strong library program that strengthens student achievement while nurturing a lifelong appreciation, habit, and love of reading.
The SLAC works with librarians and district staff to develop a recommended list of library materials for procurement, including donated titles. At least 30 days before the Board’s vote, the proposed procurement list will be made publicly available for parents and community members to review and provide feedback. The Board will review these recommendations, consider any proposed changes, and make the final decision to approve or reject the materials. The SLAC will also recommend procedures for handling challenges to library materials and review challenges according to law before making recommendations to the Board.
Visit the SLAC webpage to access the Proposed Titles for Library Procurement List, Proposed Titles for Library Procurement List Feedback Form, and the Library Materials Challenge Form.
For questions or additional information regarding SLAC reviews or library material challenges, please contact Tasha Barker at watersbarkert@ltisdschools.org, or at 512-533-6036.
Attention LTISD Parents and Guardians:
The Discovery Program, otherwise known as Gifted and Talented, is now accepting parent referrals for GT Screening via:
Transfer students, who were already identified as GT in their previous district, should submit their Google form as soon as possible, as the transfer student screening will be set within 30 days of the first day of school. Parents should send proof of their child's selection/participation in the previous GT program directly to the campus GT coordinator.
Parents can submit referrals for screening through the entire first 9-weeks, with a deadline of October 16, 2025. Students in Grades 1-5 will be tested during the 2nd 9 weeks of instruction. If the referral and permission forms are not submitted by the deadline (October 16,) the student will have to wait until the next year's screening opportunity, as the spring screening session is only for students who have transferred to the district after the fall testing window is closed.
Kindergarten students can be referred for GT testing beginning in January 2026. More details will be shared regarding this process at the beginning of the 2nd semester.
The forms and further information about the program can be found here. Once the request is submitted through the appropriate Google form, our campus GT coordinator, Erin Wyatt, will contact parents via email after October 16 to share pertinent information.
You are welcome to contact your campus GT coordinator, Erin Wyatt, at any time with questions.
