PTA Update from the Eagle's Nest

Hi Bingham Families,

We are officially in the countdown to the new school year. I hope that the summer brought you an opportunity to spend time as a family, maybe a little relaxing, and were able to capture some memories. During the next few weeks, the PTA will be sharing more introductions and lots of information to help you navigate the new year. Our Bingham Farms Elementary (BFES) PTA supports the school, staff, students, and families. We know that your inbox will be flooded by emails from school and the district. If something is confusing, please ask. Enclosed in these regular PTA emails will be information about PTA programs, events, volunteer opportunities, and other parent/caregiver support materials. You can look forward to messages from fellow PTA members throughout the year. In this update:

• Upcoming Events
• School Supplies
• Volunteer Opportunities
• PTA Membership Sign-up, Bagels, Ice Cream...
• Teacher Wishlists
• Grade Level Facebook Pages

Have a good week,

Jeanette Aiello

Hi there! I’m Sam Silver, proud mom of son Cal (4th Grade), daughter Quinn (2nd Grade), and son Lane (age 4, future Bingham Farms Eagle). All 3 kids play ice sports (ice hockey and figure skating), so we can be found in chilly rinks most of the year! The kids also love swimming, trying new foods, travel, and doing anything & everything outdoors! My favorite Bingham Farms PTA program is the VIP & Me Dances, as well as Heritage Night (we love to celebrate our Canadian heritage!). The whole Silver family is looking forward to a wonderful school year and can’t wait to see all the exciting building upgrades. Have a great school year, Eagles!

I’m the proud mom to Jack (4th grade), Lennon—who we call Leni (2nd grade), and Kai (PreK 3). One of my favorite Bingham Farms events is Night of the Arts. As a photographer and artist, I absolutely love watching the kids light up with pride while sharing their creations—it's such a joyful and inspiring night. We truly love this school, and being part of the PTA has been a wonderful way to stay connected and involved. Go Eagles!

Hi, I'm the proud mom of three boys: Jacob (4th grade), Nathan (2nd grade), and Elliot (preschool and future eagle.) I've been an active member of the PTA since we started at Bingham Farms Elementary School, from being a Classroom Connector to chairing various school wide events, and this year joining the board. I can also regularly be found volunteering in the office each week during lunch. One of my favorite PTA events is Bingham Boo; seeing the excitement of the kids is amazing! Outside of school, I love to travel and enjoy summertime by our Great Lakes and Woodside pool.

I am the proud mom of Harper (4th grade) and Charlie (2nd grade). My favorite Bingham event is the annual spring art show. It is so fun to the end the school year by seeing the projects the kids have created.

Join us to decorate the sidewalk with positive messages to welcome our Eagles back to school. Kids and grown-ups welcome Sept. 1, 4-4:45pm at Bingham Farms school entrance.

Help us sort and deliver all the school supply kits. The kits arrive in large boxes, then need to be taken to designated locations within the school on Wednesday, Sept. 3 at 1 p.m. If available, please email Jeanette at jeanetterenee12@gmail.com.

Help us support our teachers and staff with some refreshments to get them through these first busy weeks. These treats will provide some relief during room set-up, curriculum night, and all the fun that comes with welcoming back our students.

Students have a suggested school supply list for their classes this fall. The list of items is included below. Please have your student bring the items into school in a large bag. Do not put your student's name on the items, as these are often shared items. Please stick to the lists and avoid buying fancy pencil cases and folders.

If you purchased an EPI school supply kit in the spring, your student will have it delivered to their classroom. The kit did not include the required corded headphones that all K-5 students will need.

Thanks to your PTA funds, we are starting the teachers off with gift bags filled with supplies to make the first week a success! Bags include teaching supplies, hand sanitizer, sanitizing wipes, fidgets, and student school supplies to hold over until kits are unpacked. Teachers and staff are also going to be treated to special meals and snacks throughout the first couple of weeks. A special thank you to our student artists and families for the special messages with each bag.

This is our PTA website and the school directory. Our events, ticket sales, and PTA events will be listed on this site. There is even an app. Create a login, if you don't have one already, add or update your family's information for the directory, and you are ready to go. Click the eagle to go directly to the login page.

We invite all our families to be members of the PTA. Your membership gets you access to our Bingham Farms school directory, funds classroom grants, helps us to provide gifts for staff appreciation, host school events, and provides students with various fun, innovative, and educational items. It also helps us maintain our local and national PTA affiliation.

Class funds support our four class parties (Halloween, Winter, Valentines, and End-of-Year), treats, games, and crafts. By supporting the Classroom Fund, we will minimize our ask for donations to parties throughout the year.

The Bagel Pass allows your student to have a bagel once a week on a designated day throughout the school year. Click the image to prepay for bagels all year long. *Please note flavors will be Plain, Salt, and Cinnamon Sugar. There will not be condiments.

The Ice Cream Pass allows your student to have a popsicle or ice cream novelty once a week on a designated day throughout the school year. This sale helps support the 5th grade promotion. Click the image to buy an ice cream pass. *Pre-K and JK students will not have ice cream

Our teachers and staff do an incredible job supporting our students. As we enter a year of transitions with the school remodel, please consider donating an item our teachers to foster an engaging classroom for our kids. *As more lists are added, we'll post in upcoming newsletters and on our social media pages by grade.

Stay in touch with friends and share your back-to-school highlights on your grade's Facebook pages. These are meant to be social spaces that spread positivity throughout our classes.
