September 26-October 10
Mission
To empower, enrich, and enlighten students to reach their full potential while respecting our past.
Greetings from Mrs. Musick
Dear St. Elizabeth Families,
We have passed the mid terms and are headed towards the end of first quarter. There has been lots of learning, reading, studying for tests, play time and fun at recess, and exciting moments for our sports teams. It really is hard to believe that the end of first quarter is quickly approaching and we are about to head into a new month as well!
Here are a few updates as we move into the next month:
✅ Celebrations
-
Our First Grade Class has reached their goal they set with Mrs. Musick! They read 100 books and passed 100 AR tests! Mrs. Musick is in the process of making her pig shirt and they are working on arranging the "Kiss the Pig" event!🐷 What reading goal will they set next? One student mentioned kissing a donkey next and I encouraged them to think of other ideas! 🤣
-
Attendance has been strong—thank you for making school a priority!
Our softball, baseball, and JH basketball seasons are off to great starts and having successful seasons so far!
I have seen so much learning and great teaching as I have been in and out of classrooms.
We had a successful Picture Day and student-led See You at the Pole Event.

This year’s theme is Year of Engagement. We are working to engage every student, every day, in meaningful learning and active participation. A way that you can help at home is to ask them about what they are learning in the classroom. If you ever have any suggestions, questions, or concerns, don't hesitate to reach out to me.
Here’s to a wonderful October and rest of 1st Quarter!
It's a great day to be a Hornet!

Hat Day for a Cause--October 1st
Part of Year of Engagement, is also looking out for causes that help us engage with others. A teacher reached out and informed me of a teacher in Dixon that has received devastating news, brain cancer. She is in her 30s, has two young children, and her husband is the basketball coach. Although she isn't a teacher at St. Elizabeth, one thing I do care deeply about is people and teachers. I would hope that if one of our teachers ever went through devastating news that local communities would hear and hopefully find ways to reach out as well.

Kiss the Pig, Mrs. Musick! 🐖
Well it looks like 1st Grade has met their 100 book goal and has taken and passed 100 AR tests! You should have heard the screams from their room when I came through the doors after coming back from a meeting. Much to my surprise, Kiss the Pig signs were hanging on doors and all over my office. 1st grade and I are making arrangements to set up the Kiss the Pig date! As soon as it is planned, we will be making it known! I'm working on my pig shirt! 😆🐷1st grade thinks a goat should be next.....oh boy! I am hopeful they come up with something other than kissing an animal!
Thank you KDs!
Thank you for always looking for ways to benefit our school and students!

We spotted some Alumni representing St. Elizabeth well this week!

Reminders for the School Year
Drop off times: Students can't be dropped off before 7:45, unless participating in the Before Care program or an appointment with a teacher. This is to ensure that they are being looked after by staff. Drop off times should be between 7:45 and 8:00 and students will come to the gym during those times instead of main entrance.
Before/After Care for K-5th Grade: Friendly reminder that the end time for After Care for K-5 is 5:00. Please make sure that if your child is here before 7:45, that they are attending Before Care.
Changes to routine: Please make sure to call the office before 2:00 or send a note in if there are changes to your child's routine for dismissal.
Pre-Arranged Absences: Please be sure to let Mrs. Musick and child's teacher(s) know. All work should be gathered before and is due upon return.
