Data Insights: California School Dashboard 2025 Data Insights: California School Dashboard 2025

Our fourth Data Insights report of the 25-26 school year highlights student achievement on the 2025 California School Dashboard. Vista Unified demonstrated a clear pattern of improved achievement and significant growth for nearly all student groups on the 2025 Dashboard. We are proud to see that our students achieved at higher levels in all academic areas, improved both their graduation rate and college/career preparation rate, and many student groups accelerated their improvements to narrow achievement gaps. VUSD staff and students have worked hard to achieve these recognitions for improved academics, behavior, and inclusive school systems. To learn about VUSD student achievement and growth on the Dashboard, please read Data Insights Issue 4 in the link below:

When we return from Winter Break, Vista Unified will begin our annual LCAP/Blueprint process to help shape priorities for the 2026–27 school year. Over the coming months, we will be gathering input from families, students, and staff through surveys and in-person opportunities. Your perspectives help us understand what is working well, where improvements are needed, and what supports matter most for student learning and well-being. This shared input is essential as we develop our district budget and plan for the year ahead. We look forward to hearing your voice and partnering together to continue strengthening Vista Unified.

As Winter Break begins, we encourage families and all the caring adults in a child’s life to help keep learning active through simple, screen-free moments. RIASEC — a career-connected language that helps students understand what they enjoy doing — can make these moments even more meaningful. Whether it’s reading together, cooking a favorite recipe, volunteering, building something, or exploring nature, everyday activities can nurture curiosity and confidence. We invite adults and students to visit our RIASEC website, take the quick self-assessment together, compare themes, and explore the activity ideas we have listed for each letter of the RIASEC. What are your top three RIASEC theme letters? Start exploring at www.vistausd.org/riasec today!

Tree Lighting Ceremony Tree Lighting Ceremony

We had a beautiful full day of holiday performances by 22 student groups from 16 schools in Vista Unified starting at 1:00 p.m. and culminating in a fabulous tree lighting ceremony with Trustee Vargas, Mayor Franklin, and Vista City Council members O’Donnell and Fox. The entire day was filled with impressive music, dance, and singing. The event was a beautiful display of community and holiday spirit. A huge thank you goes out to the teachers and students who performed. Thank you!
