School Policies and Expectations for Students
Arrive On Time, Every Time!
Being on time to class sets students up for success. Every minute counts, and starting class together helps create a positive, focused learning environment for everyone. Please encourage your student to move quickly to each class during the day.
Cell Phone Free School
Students must power down their phones and keep them in their backpack from 1st bell (8:11) to the last bell (2:38). Lunch is only time they can turn it on. Thank you for supporting this effort at home by reminding your student about the new guidelines.
Bikes, Scooters, and Skateboards
Students, please keep our campus safe by walking your bikes, scooters, and skateboards while on school grounds, making sure you bring a lock and securing these items in the designated area each day. Edendale school is not responsible for lost or stolen bikes, scooters, or skateboards.
Backpacks and School Supplies
Students, show up ready, learn ready — every class, every day.
- Backpack
- Pens & pencils
- Paper — notebook or spiral
- Anything else your teacher requires
Back To School Night
Back to School Night – September 3rd
We invite all families to join us for Edendale Middle School’s Back to School Night on Thursday, September 3rd from 5:00–7:00pm. The gym will open at 4:30pm with information about after school programs and sign-ups for students, as well as PTSA and volunteer opportunities for parents and guardians. At 5:00pm, we will kick off the evening with a presentation in the gym for all families, followed by visits to your student’s classrooms. We look forward to seeing you there!
Homework Update: i-Ready Expectations & Upcoming Diagnostic
This year, homework schoolwide consists of iReady, with students expected to complete a minimum of two lessons per week in both Reading and Math. If your child does not have a Chromebook at home, please contact the Main Office to request one (510-317-5111 or 510-317-5112). Additionally, the first iReady diagnostic testing window of the year begins Monday, August 24th. When students take this assessment seriously, it provides valuable insight into their current reading and math levels, as well as clear next steps for improving their skills in both areas. Thank you for supporting your child's learning at home!
Join Our Community School Advisory Council!
Edendale has openings on our Community School Advisory Council (CSAC) — a group of parents/guardians, students, teachers, and community members who advise school leadership on programs, resources, and support services for our students.
Why join? Have a voice in real decisions, connect with community partners and fellow parents/guardians, and help shape initiatives for student wellness and success.
Commitment: 2nd Tuesday of each month, 3:30–4:30 PM, in person at Edendale.

Bike Mobile Bike Repair Clinic
We want to see more families riding their bikes to Edendale so we’ve invited the BikeMobile to provide free tune ups & repairs for adults and students. The BikeMobile can fix flat tires, adjust brakes and gears, and even replace broken or worn out parts like chains, seats, and tires. The only thing it can’t do is replace missing wheels or gears. While the mechanics work on your bike they’ll explain how to keep it running smooth. Bike or no bike, everyone is welcome to attend to learn about maintenance, safety, and more! This is a first come, first serve event. Space is limited to 20 people. Bring your bikes to the front of the school on October 14th between 12:30 and 3:00. We look forward to seeing you there!
