Principal's Message
Dear Members of the KMS Community,
It is with mixed emotions that I share that Assistant Principal Michelle Clifford will be leaving our school at the conclusion of this school year to accept a position closer to her home.
Throughout her nine years with us, Michelle has been an invaluable member of our leadership team. Her exceptional organizational skills, data-driven approach, and deep commitment to curriculum and instruction have helped strengthen teaching and learning across our school. She has consistently approached her work with professionalism, insight, and an unwavering focus on student success.
Beyond her many professional contributions, Michelle's bright disposition, friendly smile, and infectious laugh have made a lasting impact on our school culture. Students are drawn to her warmth and genuine care for their well-being. Faculty and staff have come to respect her thoughtful leadership, collaborative spirit, and dedication to supporting both students and colleagues.
While we are saddened (me especially) to see Michelle leave, we are excited for her as she begins this next chapter in her career. We are grateful for the many contributions she has made to our school and know that she will bring the same passion, expertise, and positivity to her new role.
Please join me in thanking Michelle for her service and wishing her continued success and happiness in the future.
Wishing everyone in our community a safe and restful summer break.
Respectfully,
Dennis Morrell, Principal
A Msg. from Assistant Principal Mrs. Clifford
Greetings KMS Community,
In 2017 I left my classroom in my tiny K-8 school and started my journey as an assistant principal here at Kickemuit Middle School. When I think back to that time, I was saddened and afraid to leave my colleagues/friends, my students and my families. I wondered if I would ever feel at home in this giant school. Over the past nine years, KMS has become my home and will always have a place in my heart. However, it is time for me to say goodbye to the district that grew me into an administrator and share my passion for learning in a new place.
Our amazing students welcomed me from day one. I have enjoyed watching them learn and grow over the years. It has been an honor to meet all of the siblings and families. The senior walkthrough has become one of my very favorite days. Iโve been supported by this whole community and I am truly thankful.
Your children are lucky to come to school here with some of the most amazing educators I have ever worked with. They are dedicated educators who are deeply committed to nurturing and valuing every single student. While I have many colleagues to thank, I would like to take a moment to recognize someone that has had such a positive impact on this entire community. Principal Dennis Morrell is the best principal and boss I have ever had. For those of us who work with him directly, he truly recognizes our strengths and always positions us to be the best that we can be. I often say that he came to KMS when I needed him the most, but he came to KMS when KMS needed him the most. As I continue to grow as a leader, I will take with me all that he has taught me. I will try to be like Mr. Morrell and make every student, parent and faculty member feel that they belong. Thank you Mr. Morrell. I will miss you greatly. Please answer your phone when I call you for advice.
My decision to leave was not one that I made easily, but ultimately it is what is best for my family. My new position takes me closer to home and makes it so I am never surprised with the traffic that that broken bridge may bring. I will always have a connection to the East Bay. I hope to say hello to you when I am with my family at the Bristol 4th of July Parade or when Iโm marching in the band during an Espirito Santo or Santo Cristo procession. KMS will always be a part of me. I wish this school and district lots of continued success.
Sincerely,
Michelle Clifford

Team Olympians Host the Olympic Games & Awards Ceremony
The Olympians held they final family meeting awarding students for their academics and growth throughout the year. We also held our first ever lip sync battle as part of our Olympic Games. The Olympics consist of athletic events, a chess tournament, an art and Lego competition, a trivia contest, and many more events. This year, Mr. White's homeroom is the big winner!
For the past two weeks, Olympian students have been conducting an extended research project based on the nonfiction book, An American Plague by Jim Murphy. Students had the option to work alone or in a small group to create an infographic, an informational text focusing on providing information with graphics such as charts, tables, diagrams, etc.
