Greetings Gearity Families:

I would like to thank all of the families that were able to participate in conferences. Our next Parent Teacher Conference event is in March just prior to spring break. As a reminder, you can schedule a conference with your student's teachers at any time so you do not have to wait until March. You can contact your child's teacher via Dojo or the office to set up a meeting to address student concerns.

Students will take middle of the year MAP and Acadience assessments in December or early January. We will mail the updated family reports once the tests are complete. I am sharing a brief video that explains what norm referenced tests, like MAP and Acadience, are used for. When you get your new report set up a conference if you are concerned about how your student performed compared to other peers.

Level 2 Lockdown: we will have a level 2 lockdown on Tuesday. A level 2 is where the teacher keeps all students in their class and continues to teach. We use a level 2 if there is an event in the neighborhood surrounding the school and we want to limit student movement in the building until local officials have given the all clear. Please reinforce with your children the value of practicing safety drill as Drills Build Skills!

Report Cards: Mrs. Blade will mail report cards home the week of October 26th.

PTA Meeting October 28th - You can join the virtual meeting at 6:15 using this link. We will be discussing preparations for the November Book Fair. We need volunteers to man the book fair each day so click on this link if you are interested in helping.

Spirit Week is Here! Time to have some fun! Please see the flyer below for the theme for each day next week.

PAWS Assemblies on Friday: we will have our monthly PAWS assemblies next week. Our staff will be recognizing students from each homeroom who have exhibited the PAWS attributes as well as the student who best exemplifies our Character Strong theme for October - Responsibility. Students will be able to go to the Tiger Store to spend their PAWS points so they may come home with a small fidgit or toy.

PTA needs your help: The PTA is planning a bake sale fundraiser on election day (Nov. 3rd) as Gearity hosts a polling station. We are requesting donations for the bake sale and the proceeds go back to your family through PTA programming. We sent home a flyer with a QR code to sign up to donate. If you did not get the flyer in your student's back pack you can use this link. If you would like to join the PTA, you can use this givebacks link to pay the small membership fee. Our next meeting is scheduled for October 27th.

Dentists are coming: The Smiles Program will be at Gearity on November 24th. If you would like to have your students participate in the program you can register using this link: https://www.myschooldentist.com/GPCHOH_schsrm

Have a great weekend,

  • At Home: Read an informational article and discuss how the author organizes ideas and supports opinions with evidence. Invite your child to write a realistic story. Practice multiplication facts and explain different ways to solve a problem.
