Dear Mary Walker Families,
I hope you had a wonderful weekend! It’s hard to believe we’re already in the final stretch of the school year—with just 16 days to go (not that anyone’s counting!).
As we wrap up the year, we have several exciting events and activities planned. Please take a moment to read through this newsletter so you don’t miss any important updates.
Thank you, as always, for staying involved in your child’s learning. We appreciate your partnership and look forward to seeing you soon!

State Testing Reminder – How You Can Help
Families, state testing is underway, and you play an important role in helping your child do their best! Here are a few simple ways to support them:
Make sure they get a good night’s sleep before testing days.
Start the day with a calm, encouraging morning.
Ensure they arrive at school on time, ready to go.
Remind them that all we ask is for their best effort and focus.
Your support helps set the tone for a positive testing experience—thank you for being such a vital part of your child’s success!

Family Life and Sexual Health Curriculum
This week, our K–8 school will begin implementing the Family Life and Sexual Health (FLASH) curriculum with students in grades 4–8. This age-appropriate, medically accurate program is taught by a team of classroom teachers, our PE teacher, school nurse, and support staff. It is designed to help students make informed, healthy choices.
FLASH also encourages strong family engagement. We invite you to talk with your child about the topics they are learning and to continue these important conversations at home.
If you have any questions or would like to learn more about the curriculum or participation options, please feel free to stop by the office—we’re happy to help!

LID Day Teacher Work
A Learning Improvement Day (LID) is a dedicated work day for teachers to reflect on their practice, analyze student data, develop supports, and participate in professional learning. These days are essential for helping us grow as educators and better meet the needs of our students.
During our most recent LID, teaching teams began the day by reflecting on the Past, Present, and Future of learning in the Mary Walker School District. Each group created a visual poster capturing their insights and then shared their reflections with the full team.
Here are a few snapshots of the thoughtful and collaborative work our staff engaged in—we’re proud of the dedication our educators bring to continuous improvement!
