Junior High Honor Choir
Eight Willow Lake junior high students traveled to Elkton this past week to participate in Middle School Honor Choir. They joined approximately 200 student singers from schools across the area for a day of music, learning, and collaboration.
Kindergarten Visits Fire Station
Our preschool and kindergarten students enjoyed a visit to the Willow Lake fire station! They had the opportunity to learn about fire safety, explore the fire trucks, and learn more about the important work firefighters do to keep our community safe. Thank you to our local firefighters for taking the time to teach our youngest students!
VB PINK OUT
Our communities gave $1076.50 to Watertown Breast Cancer support group from the sale of our pink out shirts!!
The Watertown breast cancer support group was founded in 2005 and became nonprofit in 2013. They work within a 10 county area and have helped a little over 225 women. Their first concern is to extend emotional support but they also give financial support to those diagnosed with breast cancer. To date they have given $216,600 to women in hopes of easing their pain of the financial hardship while going through treatment.
Thank you to Donita Hanson for coming to the volleyball game so we could present our check to you!!

Oral Interp
Drake represented Willow Lake at the Oral Interpretation competition in Hamlin, where he competed in the Serious category. He earned an Excellent Plus rating for his performance!
Kindergarten Author's Chair
Our kindergarten students are building confidence as writers by using the Author’s Chair! Students take turns sitting in the teacher’s chair to share their writing and illustrations with their classmates. This is a great opportunity for students to celebrate their creativity and practice speaking in front of others. We love seeing our young authors share their work!
Senior Capstone
Seniors are beginning to invite guest speakers to their Senior Capstone class to gain valuable insight into life after high school. Max invited Bob Syring to speak with the class about college, career opportunities, military experience, and life advice. These conversations provide students with real-world perspectives as they begin preparing for their next chapter!
Seth had his uncle Jared Poppen, from RCP&E Railroad, come talk to the seniors about railroad safety and his career. Very interesting facts about trains and railroad!
Kindergarten Studies More & Less
Kindergarten has been learning about more than, fewer than, and same as this week in math. They played a game comparing the red and yellow counters to see which had more, fewer, or the same.
Football
Cyclones football team finished 9-0 this season. Officers were invited for the coin toss in honor of Deputy Katherine Frank.

Shoppe 416
Shoppe 416 is ready to begin serving their delicious drinks and treats😊 Students and staff may visit the shoppe or place an order at the office (W, TH, F) before 10:00am for deliveries to the school at 12:00.
Just a few reminders:
1. Please be patient and courteous with those delivering the drinks.
2. Make sure that when you are finished with your drink that you dump out any remaining liquid in a sink and do not put partially full cups in the trash can- this makes a mess for our janitors.
3. If you spill, please clean it up or find a janitor to help you!!
4. 8th Grade may order on Wed., 7th Grade may order on Thurs., 6th Grade may order on Fri.

Safe2Say South Dakota is a statewide tip line that allows South Dakota students, school staff, and community members to safely and anonymously report sensitive information that concerns their safety, or the safety of others, including mental health concerns.
How it Works
Safe2Say South Dakota operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Anyone with information about a potentially dangerous situation can call the toll-free number at 1-844-3SD-SAFE/1-844-373-7233, make a web report by clicking the Submit a Tip Online button, or by downloading the mobile app and making a report from a smartphone or digital device.
