St Anthony's School News

Week 9 - Thursday 18th September 2025
St Anthony's School community works collaboratively to teach and live the values of Christ. While respecting tradition, and to meet the demands of a rapidly changing society, it strives to educate our children to their full potential.
Principal's Message
This is our new school prayer. Many, many children’s thoughts have been combined to create this beautiful prayer which will replace our existing prayer and be prayed at Monday assemblies and PADUA assemblies. It embodies all we are about here at St Anthony’s School.
This Friday we celebrate our 90th Anniversary as a school – a significant milestone. If you are able, please join us at a special 10.30am mass tomorrow to mark this wonderful event.
End of Term
The end of Term 3 is almost upon us and it has been an extremely busy term. Students will finish on Friday, 26th September.
Students return to school for Term 4 on Tuesday, 14th October.
Term 4 Significant Dates
Athletics Carnival
During each of the carnival events from Kindy through to Year 6 last week, student athleticism in running, jumping, throwing and their cooperation in team games was on display. Congratulations to all the students who competed in the various events. Special thanks to Mrs Francis for her organisation of the carnivals and to the staff who assisted in the various jobs that needed to be done before the carnival and throughout each day.
We also thank God, despite rainy days throughout the week, we had a beautiful sunny day. Thank you the many parents who came to support their children throughout the competition.
God Bless
Therese Bandy
Principal
We would like to remind families that St Anthony's is an allergy aware school. Therefore, for the health and safety of children and staff with allergies, peanut butter, Nutella, nuts and muesli bars containing nuts are not to be included in your child’s lunch.
P&F News
Students are to wear a plain white shirt and their school black sport shorts.
All parents, carers and grandparents are welcome to come down to the oval. Please enter through the main gate near the school library from 1:30pm.
This year parents are kindly and respectfully requested to spectate and not participate in the colour run. If you have any concerns regards your child participating without a parent please contact the P&F on 8775.pnfchair@cewa.edu.au
We will need volunteers to set up, pack down and of course colour the students on the day. Please keep an eye out for our call out for volunteers this week on Facebook. We would greatly appreciate your help in making the day possible.
The winner of the HD Sports Action Camera will be announced at the colour run, if you would like your child to be in the draw they will need to have raised $50 to have their name entered.
Fundraising closes on the 26th of September and prizes open that day and will remain open for students to select their prizes until October the 6th of October. Prizes will be ordered during the school holidays and given out to students early in Term 4.
We look forward to a happy and colourful day on Friday the 26th September.
Many thanks for your support

SPORT
Spring Carnival 2025
Our Year 5 and 6 students had a fantastic day representing St Anthony’s at the Spring Carnival, competing in NRL League Stars, Basketball, and Badminton. The students displayed outstanding behaviour throughout the day, showing fairness, respect, and wonderful team spirit in every game they played.
The results were extremely positive across all sports. Our badminton team achieved an excellent 2nd place out of 7 schools – a wonderful effort! In the League Tag competition, three out of four St Anthony’s teams made it through to the finals. The Grand Final was an all-St Anthony’s clash between our Year 5 and Year 6 teams, with the Year 6 team narrowly winning by just one try in what was an exciting match to watch. The basketball teams all played extremely well, improving with each game they played and showing great determination and persistence throughout the day.
We are very proud of all our students for the way they represented our school, not only in their performances but in the way they encouraged and supported each other and the opposition as well.
Athletics Carnival
The Athletics Carnival was another wonderful community event, full of house spirit, great competition, and plenty of fun. Congratulations to McAuley House, who claimed first place with 1823 points. Peregrine House came second with 1517, Mercy House third on 1419, and Servite House finished fourth with 1398.
The Unity Shield went to Servite House, whose students continually demonstrated the PADUA values across both days of competition.
Highlights included fierce tug-o-war battles, outstanding track and field performances, and plenty of teamwork throughout the games. A big thank you to all the students and staff for their efforts, particularly the House Captains, who worked hard to keep events running smoothly.
The relay between students, ex-students, and adults was once again a crowd favourite—featuring some thrilling runs and a few dramatic falls along the way! This year the ex-students took out the title.
A heartfelt thank you to all helpers and volunteers, and especially to Mr Ron Munroe for his efforts this term in getting the track marked and ready to go—your work is greatly appreciated.
Congratulations again to McAuley House and to our Individual Champions from Years 3 to 6.
