For us to continue to improve as a school district and as a school, it is important for us to understand stakeholder perceptions about the job we are doing in providing a quality education for all our children. We are seeking information through an 10-15 minute survey that is available now through Friday, April 28th.

To complete the survey,

  • You can either click on this link or scan the above QR code.

  • Choose your language preference on the opening page of the survey.

  • Select your child’s school. If you have children in multiple schools, complete one survey per child.

  • Complete the survey and click submit.

School-Wide Planetarium Field Trip School-Wide Planetarium Field Trip

Today we had the pleasure of hosting Mobile Ed Productions' Skydome Planetarium. Thank you PTA for bringing this in-house journey through the universe to DEE today. The students had a blast learning about space and having the chance to stargaze in the middle of the day.

Pre-Arranged Absences Pre-Arranged Absences

If you are planning on traveling, or your student will be missing more than two days of school for another reason, please fill out a pre-arranged absence form. These forms can be found in the office or emailed to you at your request. Please complete the form and return it to school (electronically or paper, either way is fine) at least a few days prior to your students' absence. If you have multiple students, you can fill out just one form for all of them.

Vocabulary Focus at DEE Vocabulary Focus at DEE

Every year as a building we set goals around improving our practices building wide; this is called a school improvement plan. One of the goals on our yearly plan is focused on vocabulary instruction K-5 and exciting things are happening!

Teachers are using a new strategy called a CCD or Cognitive Content Dictionary (see the images below). When the teacher introduces a word, they find out what the students already know about it, give them the definition and use the word throughout the day. Students also learn how to use the word in a sentence and are given a motion or movement to help them retain the meaning of the word.

Ask your student about some of the new words they have learned this week!

District Wide Attendance Competition

Be Healthy, Be Here!

As we continue to work towards our goal of 95% daily attendance, the elementary schools of the Sumner Bonney Lake School District are engaging in a district wide attendance competition. The First Annual Attendance Cup will take place April 10th - May 5th. The main intent of our competition is to reinforce healthy behaviors that prevent illness, such as washing hands and covering coughs. A secondary intent is to form a partnership with families in which school attendance takes priority during weekdays, from the start of the day to the end of the day. Thank you in advance for ensuring your child is at school on time every day engaged in learning (when they are healthy).
