Principal's Message
Dear Kenwood Families:
Although the world is a complicated place right now, I take comfort in Robin Wall Kimmerer's musings on balancing challenging times (shared on October 9th, 2025 at the Milkweed Edition's Booklover's Ball in Minneapolis):
“Well, I’m a gardener. I have heavy buckets to carry. If I’m just carrying one, it’s harder. I’d like to think about that heartbreak, joy, scarcity and that abundance as those two buckets—they both slop against my leg when I walk—and I need them both. There is balance in having both buckets full. That is what it means to be alive.”
All of us -- staff, volunteers, families, and community partners -- nurture Kenwood School with unwavering belief in the myriad of ways that our students will blossom and bloom this year and in the years to come. I know that by working in partnership with each of you, our children are becoming grounded, resilient, compassionate, and curious thinkers, artists, and helpers, even as we all carry the weight of heartbreak and joy. I'm grateful to be walking this path and tending this garden with you.
I wish you a peaceful winter break. I can't wait to welcome you back in the New Year!
Warmly,
Heidi Johnson

Safety First During Arrival and Dismissal
Please be very cautious when you drop off your students on Penn Ave. in the morning. Drivers have reported that children have run across the street to the playground as buses and cars approach, creating a dangerous situation. Please park on the school side of the street, north of the Kenwood gate and the bus drop-off zone to prevent accidents and injury. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
