Dear Westview Families and Wildcats,

As we approach an important milestone in our school year, I want to take a moment to reflect on the incredible work that has taken place in our classrooms and to share how proud I am of our students and staff.

Throughout this year, our students have been deeply engaged in their English Language Arts learning—analyzing complex texts, strengthening their writing, building vocabulary, and developing the critical thinking skills that will serve them far beyond the classroom. Behind the scenes, our teachers have been intentional and relentless in their efforts—planning meaningful lessons, analyzing data, providing targeted support, and ensuring that every student has the opportunity to grow and succeed. This has truly been a campus-wide commitment, and it shows.

All of this hard work leads us to an important moment.

On Wednesday, April 15th, when the school bell rings at 8:20 a.m., our students will begin their STAAR Reading test, the first STAAR assessment of the year. This is an opportunity for students to demonstrate what they have learned and to showcase the growth they have made.

To our parents—thank you. Your encouragement, support, and partnership make a tremendous difference. Helping ensure that students are well-rested, on time, and confident as they walk through our doors is invaluable.

To our students—this is your moment. Trust yourself and the work you have put in. You have been preparing for this all year, and we believe in you completely. Remember, the most important thing is to give your very best effort and show what you know.

At Westview, we know that success is built through dedication, perseverance, and heart—and our Wildcats have all three. We are excited to see our students rise to the occasion and make us proud.

Let’s go, Wildcats!

With pride and appreciation,
Dr. Emily Delgado

🎶 Celebrating Our Wildcat Choir! 🎶

We are incredibly proud to recognize our 2025–2026 Varsity Treble Choir for their outstanding performance at the UIL Concert and Sight Reading Evaluation this past Friday!

During this prestigious event, our students performed in front of a panel of certified adjudicators in two areas: Concert Performance and Sight Reading. The concert portion included three challenging, prepared selections, while the sight reading evaluation required students to perform a brand-new piece of music they had never seen before—an impressive demonstration of both skill and musical literacy!

Our Wildcats rose to the occasion, earning:

  • Concert Performance Scores: 1–2–1 (majority Superior ratings)
  • Sight Reading Scores: 2–1–2 (majority Excellent ratings)

These ratings reflect the highest levels of achievement and are a testament to the dedication, talent, and hard work of our students and their director.

To top it off, the Varsity Treble Choir was awarded a plaque trophy in recognition of their beautiful concert performance—an incredible honor!

🎺 Celebrating Our Wildcat Bands! 🎶

We are excited to celebrate the outstanding accomplishments of our Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble at last week’s UIL Concert & Sightreading Competition!

Our Symphonic Band delivered an incredible performance, earning their strongest concert ratings since 2019, with overall ratings of Excellent. This achievement reflects tremendous growth, dedication, and a commitment to musical excellence.

Our Wind Ensemble continues to raise the bar, earning Division 1 ratings from all six judges across both concert and sightreading evaluations—an exceptional accomplishment! This marks their fourth consecutive overall Division 1 rating. Even more impressive, they performed their most challenging program since 2017, with selections comparable to those performed by many high school bands.

These achievements are a testament to the hard work, discipline, and passion of our student musicians, as well as the unwavering dedication of our incredible band and choir directors who invest so much into our students each and every day.

📱 Cell Phone Reminder

At Westview Middle School, our goal is to maintain a focused, respectful, and distraction-free learning environment for all students. As a reminder, cell phones are not allowed to be seen or used during the school day. This includes hallways, classrooms, and common areas.

To support consistency across the district, we will be following the PfISD Cell Phone Consequence Ladder for any violations:

OffenseConsequence

1st OffenseDevice confiscated — must be picked up by a parent or guardian.

2nd OffenseDevice confiscated and lunch detention assigned (documented in Skyward).

3rd OffenseDevice confiscated, ½ day of ISS, and a parent meeting required.

Chronic IssuesMay result in a full day of ISS, a behavior plan, or a temporary ban on bringing the device to school.

We appreciate your partnership in reinforcing this expectation at home. When students are free from distractions, they can better focus, engage, and succeed in their learning.

💜 Go Wildcats — focused and ready to learn!

New Transportation Badge System

Beginning this month, the PfISD Transportation Department will introduce a new Transportation Badge System for students who ride the school bus. This system is designed to make transportation even safer and more efficient for our Wildcats.

Students who ride the bus will receive a new ID badge from the transportation department. They will simply scan their badge when getting on and off the bus, allowing district staff to ensure students are always on the correct bus and helping families stay informed. This system helps prevent mix-ups and gives everyone greater peace of mind—nothing more, and nothing to worry about.

These new badges are multi-purpose, too! Students will be able to:

  • Access breakfast and lunch in the cafeteria

  • Check out books in the library

  • Wear the badge daily as part of our regular school ID expectations

If your child does not ride the bus, they will continue using their current school badge, and no changes are needed.

We appreciate your partnership as we roll out this helpful system that supports student safety and smooth daily routines for all.

Lunch Visits with Your Wildcat Lunch Visits with Your Wildcat

We love seeing our Wildcat families join their students for lunch! Families are always welcome to bring outside food and enjoy lunch with their child at our picnic tables. These moments mean so much to our students, and we truly enjoy having our families here on campus.

If you would like to have lunch with your child, simply stop by the front office when you arrive. Our staff will call your student out of the cafeteria, and you can briefly sign them out and back in once lunch is finished. It’s a simple process, and a wonderful way to stay connected with your child during the school day.

We hope to see you at lunch soon!
