Parent University is an opportunity to help build strong community relationships working to enhance your child's educational experience. GISD along with GJHS designed this day for parents and caregivers to receive training, information, and resources on relevant topics aimed to help develop the skills needed to implement positive parenting practices. We want to inform and engage parents and caregivers as partners, advocates, and continuous learners in their child’s education. Anyone can attend Parent University, and the opportunity is FREE! Visit the Parent University website for more details!

33,127 artworks competed in VASE this year. 2357 (7%) were chosen to go to state. Only 235 Students scored 3s/4s (highest ratings) and only 165 received a Gold Seal and their art to be on display for various events the next year. 3s/4s and Gold Seal artist art are in the top 1% of high school artists in the state. There were mega schools with extensive art programs with bus loads of kids at state. It’s a given those schools will be at state and it’s difficult for smaller schools, especially with just a single teacher, to make it. BOTH of our students are in the top 1% and we couldn’t be prouder! Aubrie scored a 3 for her drawing Jeontong. Way to go Aubrie! Ella’s sculpture Temptation was chosen as a Gold Seal!!!! They spent the day in art workshops, getting their portfolios reviewed by universities and much more. Congratulations to both of these amazing students and to Mrs Perkins for all of her guidance and support for GHS students and GISD Visual Arts!!!

Congratulations to Max & Olivia Neelley for being our top two plant sale winners from GHS! They and their two friends enjoyed Chick-Fi-La delivered by our director, Arin Lane & secretary, Susan Beall.

Johany Marin (music education), Carl Little (animation), Brynann Beverage (game design), Ava Blaskovich (theatre)

Steven Zamora (football), Diego Valdez (soccer), Desmond Moore (football)

GJH students Olivia Perez & Jayla Mackey earned a Chick-Fi-La lunch with a friend for selling plants during our Spring Plant Sale!

Thank you to the best School Lunch Heroes around! We appreciate their dedication in preparing the best quality meals for our staff and students everyday.

Head Start students visit Edison Elementary to see where they will attend school in the fall as they enter kindergarten.
