Attica Elem. Newsletter - Nov 26

A Look Back at October!
Connecting our monthly theme to our schoolwide message, “Made for Greatness,” we reminded students that greatness isn't about being perfect or never making mistakes. Instead, it's about having the courage to do what's right, even when it's difficult. We challenged students to tell the truth, own their mistakes, and make choices that demonstrate honesty and integrity. Our message throughout the month was simple: Honesty Builds Trust!
Our Students of the Month for October are:
PreK - Arya Loranty & Archer Dominesey
Kindergarten - Theodore Lehmann
1st Grade - Grady Johnson
2nd Grade - Emery Stefani
3rd Grade - Kane Spink
4th Grade - Taylor Kelly
As we welcome November, our character education theme is Gratitude! Throughout the month, we will encourage students to recognize and appreciate the people, opportunities, and little moments that make a difference in their lives. Gratitude is more than simply saying “thank you”—it is about showing kindness, appreciating what we have, and recognizing the good in those around us. We will remind students that even small acts of appreciation can make a big difference in someone else's day.
As we continue our school-wide theme of “Made for Greatness,” we want our students to understand that greatness isn't just about what we accomplish, but also about how we appreciate, encourage, and lift up others. We encourage families to join us this month by taking time to talk about the many things, big and small, for which we can be thankful!

Growing Gratitude!
A Little Thankfulness Goes a Long Way!
November is the perfect time to slow down, reflect, and appreciate the people and moments that make our lives special! This month, we choose to focus on gratitude—recognizing and appreciating the good things in our lives, both big and small.
Gratitude is more than just saying “thank you.” It’s about noticing acts of kindness, appreciating the people around us, and finding joy in everyday moments. When children practice gratitude, they can develop a more positive mindset, strengthen friendships, build empathy, and improve their overall emotional well-being.
Small Acts of Gratitude, Big Feelings of Happiness!
Throughout November, encourage your child to become a Gratitude Detective by looking for little things to be thankful for each day. It might be a friend who made them smile, a teacher who helped them, a warm hug, or simply getting to play outside!
Try This at Home: The Family Gratitude Challenge!
Here are a few simple ways to practice gratitude together:
Thankful Talk: At dinner or bedtime, have everyone share one thing they are thankful for that day.
Gratitude Jar: Write down something you’re grateful for each day and place it in a jar. Read them together at the end of the month!
Kindness Counts: Encourage your child to show appreciation by doing something kind for someone else.
Thank-You Notes: Have your child draw a picture or write a note to someone who makes their life brighter.
A Reminder for Our Students and Families:
Being grateful doesn’t mean every day has to be perfect. It’s okay to feel sad, frustrated, worried, or disappointed while still finding something to appreciate. All feelings are welcome, and even on difficult days, there can be little moments of goodness.
This Month’s Family Conversation Starter:
“What is something small that made you smile today, and why are you thankful for it?”
This November, let’s fill our hearts with gratitude, spread kindness wherever we go, and remember that sometimes the smallest things bring the biggest smiles!
Warmly,
The Mental Health Department
