Dear Parents and Carers,

Welcome back!

What a wonderful first week at school we have had. The children have been brilliant and have settled into new routines really quickly and without fuss. All staff have worked tirelessly to ensure they have had a smooth transition so a big thank you to them for their care and consideration. Welcome to all of the new Reception families - we hope you will be very happy here.

As we move into unpredictable weather, please can you send your child in with wellies and a coat so that they can make the most of the OPAL activities on offer. With the help of Friends of Kirk Fenton we are going to be sourcing storage for the wellies but in the meantime, please send them in a carrier bag that your child can hang on their peg. Thank you in advance for your patience as we navigate this as it is quite a challenge!

Year 6 have made their pitch to be team captains and next week will be interviewing for Head boy and girl. I have already been impressed with how seriously they are taking their responsibilities as the eldest children in school. They have helped our new Reception children settle in beautifully.

Next week will see me travel to Fulford School on Wednesday to meet with the other headteachers in our newly amalgamated MAT - Yorkshire Learning Trust. On Tuesday, our CEO Ian Yapp came to visit staff and highlight the message that although the name has changed, our values and aspirations remain the same. I’m sure he will be writing to parents in the near future but if you have questions in the meantime I would be happy to help.

Have a great weekend,

Mel Walmsley

Headteacher
