Summer 2026
Pardon Our Appearance: Baldwin Schools Transformation Underway
Beginning This Summer, Community-Supported Capital Projects Initiative Commences
The Baldwin Union Free School District is excited to launch a series of major capital improvement projects. Supported by the community, these projects will transform facilities across the district, upgrade aging infrastructure, and create future-ready learning spaces.
What's Bruin in Baldwin UFSD Facilities
Baldwin High School Athletic Complex and Facility Enhancements
At Baldwin High School, work will include the construction of a new athletic complex and athletic support building on the northeast side of campus near the tennis courts. The athletic complex will feature a full-size gymnasium, a modern weight room and fitness area, dedicated instructional space for yoga and dance, new parking for visitors and staff, and improved roadway access near the 400 Building to support traffic flow and accessibility. Roof renovations will also take place in multiple sections of the building. Construction is scheduled to begin in June 2026.
Baldwin Middle School Athletic and Infrastructure Improvements
Baldwin Middle School will receive major upgrades, including a new synthetic turf athletic field. Once complete, the field will support lacrosse, soccer, field hockey, athletic practices, and physical education classes. Additional summer work at the middle school will include roofing renovations and continued electrical infrastructure improvements. Construction is underway as of May and will continue through the summer months with minimal disruption to student and community activities.
Elementary School Kitchen and Cafeteria Upgrades
Each Baldwin elementary school will undergo cafeteria and kitchen enhancements designed to provide modern, efficient, and welcoming dining experiences for students. In addition, all five elementary schools will experience full-building electrical upgrades. Construction for Brookside, Lenox, Meadow and Steele will commence this June, while Plaza Elementary has already begun the work.
- Brookside Elementary School will receive a new cafeteria addition on the east side of the building.
- Lenox Elementary School will undergo a new cafeteria addition with a state-of-the-art kitchen on the west side of the building.
- Meadow Elementary School will be outfitted with a new cafeteria and state-of-the-art kitchen addition on the west side of the building.
- Plaza Elementary School has already been undergoing construction for a redesigned cafeteria and state-of-the-art kitchen within the existing cafeteria footprint.
- Steele Elementary School will receive a new cafeteria addition with a state-of-the-art kitchen on the south side of the building near Grand Boulevard.
Thank You for Your Continued Partnership and Support
Baldwin Union Free School District appreciates the community’s continued support and understanding as these important enhancements move forward and asks families to “pardon our appearance” during this time. As always, the safety of students, staff, families, and the community remains the district’s top priority.
