Parent Update 5.2.25
Greetings WHS Families,
It is an exciting time with Prom 2025 this weekend and Spring sports in full swing! Be sure to review the updates below as there are many important events, celebrations, and upcoming opportunities in the weeks ahead.
The week of May 5 is Teacher Appreciation week! Families are encouraged to take some time to reach out to your student's teachers next week as we celebrate the endless efforts of our teaching staff to support our students. I am extremely proud of our staff and all they do to support our community. Please join me in making this a memorable week for our dedicated staff!
Have a great weekend!
Dean of Student Update
Parents are reminded that once your child has used the 10 days of excused absences, when you call in your student, they will be marked unexcused but not truant. If a doctor's note is provided, the absence changes to excused. A friendly reminder for you and your student that for any absence coded as unexcused, teachers do not, by state statute, have to allow retakes or supply work for those days. This is up to the individual teacher so students should check in with their teachers to find out.
At our April Pep Rally, students were notified of a few incentives regarding attendance. Please encourage your to work toward the upcoming May/June attendance incentives.
- Incentive #1: Perfect student attendance until May 9 earns you a free pizza lunch in the Peace Garden on Friday, May 16.
- Incentive #2: 90% student attendance from May 12 through June 6 earns you the activity day on June 10.
Student Engagement Survey
This is a friendly reminder for all students to complete the School Perceptions survey they received on in their email if they have not already! The student survey should be completed by Friday, May 9th.
School Perceptions is a company in Slinger, Wisconsin that works to help schools gather data to make our schools better and ensure every student’s success after high school graduation. The ‘Student Life Survey’ includes questions for students to answer about your experiences at school, how you feel, how you spend your free time, and your plans for the future.
This survey takes between 10-15 minutes. We just ask that you take your time and answer honestly.
Prom 2025
Saturday, May 3
Prom is Saturday, May 3 in the WHS Commons from 8:00-11:30 pm, with the Post Prom to follow at the Elks Lodge from 11:30-2:00 am in downtown Watertown. Get ready for an amazing night!
Prom tickets are on sale at the WHS Bookkeeping Office for $35. That ticket to prom also gets you into the post prom. When you make the purchase, your name will go on a list, and at prom you will receive a wristband to get into the dance and post prom.
Everything at prom is then free, including valet parking, coat check, and refreshments. Everything at Post Prom is free as well, including a huge buffet of food, casino games, and a pool, ping-pong, and bags tournament–all with prize money.
