4th Grade Poster Contest
Some exciting info to share from Ms. Correll and 4th grade:
The 4th graders were fortunate to have a visit from Bobbie Webster of the Douglas County Land & Water Conservation Department. She shared a lesson about animal habitats. After the lesson, she introduced a poster contest. The 2025 NACD Poster Contest theme is "Home is Where the Habitat is" The Conservation Poster Contest is open to kindergarten through 12th-grade students. The posters will be on display at the Douglas County Courthouse. Before we sent the posters to her for the County contest, we had a school contest and these were our winners:
1st place: Colten, Talulah, Angelique, Harlie
2nd place: Ava, Addison, Kya, Cassaundra, Axel
3rd place: Brynlee, Daxton, Silus
Congratulations and good luck to everyone participating in the County contest.

Cooper Families,
It has been great having the students back in the building this month! We have started our winter benchmark testing to see all the gains they are making in math and reading. Students in the After School Program have had the opportunity to work on some of their academic work and expand opportunities for positive youth development through high quality, affordable academic enrichment and wellness activities outside of the traditional school day. Here are some snapshots of the students at work and enjoying the After School Program.

Responsibility
With the start of a new year, this is a great time to talk about responsibility. Reviewing expectations and looking ahead to the future requires us to think about our role in achieving our goals. We will spend time reviewing our Work, Respect, and Belong expectations in all areas of the building. When we know what our job is and what is expected of us, then we can do our job to the best of our ability. We also will focus on the importance of making good choices. We all make many choices every day and each of those choices leads to some sort of consequence or effect. Thinking about how our words and actions not only affect us but the people and world around us is also important when making responsible decisions. How to be responsible for our health, both body and mind, is another topic we will talk about.

Strategic Plan
From our District Administration, Dr. Amy Starzecki:
As a school district, we are constantly striving to learn and grow. In recent months, we have finalized our new school district strategic plan for 2025-2030. This plan is the result of extensive collaboration with educators, parents, and school board. The process began in the summer of 2024 by sharing a survey with our entire Superior community. Using the feedback from our community and numerous data points, our strategic planning team created a plan that builds upon our strengths while providing clear direction for the next five years. The School Board officially adopted the recommendations from this committee in November 2024.
Our strategic plan includes a new mission, vision and commitments. The Priority areas or pillars for ongoing continuous improvement have been identified as the following: Student Engagement, Growth, and Achievement, Family and Community Partnerships, Exceptional Staff, and Financial Responsibility.
