Superintendent's Weekly Update
March 18th, 2022
April 1, 2022
Dear Weymouth Public Schools Families,
Why can April jump so high?
It’s spring!
The beginning of a new month is a good time to take care of new business and set goals for the remainder of the school year. As the weather gets warmer, everyone wants to be outside enjoying the fresh air and sunshine. We have gotten many questions about field trips. Although we recognize the value of the field trips and the opportunity to engage students in a variety of settings, at this time we are unable to provide equitable access across the district. We are faced with limited resources, including transportation, medical coverage, and staff substitutes; we hope this will improve over time. For this reason, we will only be approving competitions for classes and clubs, CTE job-related trips, leadership conferences and daily trips that correlate with the special education curriculum to address community skills.
This past Wednesday, JECC Principal Perez and Principal Guilfoy hosted a virtual kindergarten parent meeting. A special thank you to Gina O'Neil (K-Pingree), Linda West (K-Academy) and Holly MacKay (Pre-K JECC) for their presentation to our new K Families. The virtual session was well attended and will be posted to our website soon!
Have great weekend and see you Monday!
Best Regards,
Robert Wargo
Superintendent
Video** Hamilton Elementary Sings Bob Marley's "One Love"
Watch, listen, and sing-a-long with Hamilton Elementary School as they burst out in Bob Marley's "One Love" and remind us all that we are all one family!
From the Fine & Performing Arts Dept.: Over the past few weeks, students at Hamilton Elementary learned a song that we called Hamilton Hero (One Love). A fifth grader, Connor Johnson, wrote the poetry for the verse and we produced a little track. Click here to read the lyrics written by Connor, and learn about the meaning behind the music.
