Welcome to the BHS Express
A newsletter keeping you informed about Batavia High School
Hello Bulldog Families.
We’re heading into the final four days of the first quarter next week and have been encouraging students to get that missing work turned in! We want to make sure that our students are passing everything and are on their way to earning all of the required course credits for graduation. Thank you for encouraging them to take care of all of their responsibilities!
Please review a few of the flyers that are included in this newsletter. Note the process for picture retake day on October 22nd and review the PSAT Parent Letter link if you have a sophomore in Honors English 10 or any junior student who may wish to take the PSAT in a few weeks. Our BHS PTO is also hosting a Carnival/Haunted House on Saturday, October 24th. Feel free to come out and enjoy the fall season as many of our BHS students will be helping with this event.
We are also reminding our high school students that blankets ARE NOT permitted in the building. Students are encouraged to layer their clothing with hoodies, sweatshirts, etc. if they find the temperature in the building too chilly.
BHS will be showing the mandated prevention videos for suicide awareness and school safety. These videos will be shown during advisory on October 13, 2026 and October 20, 2026. If you do not wish your child to watch these videos, please reach out to Mr. Moorehead at moorehead_j@bataivaschools.org or Mr. Buis at buis_m@bataviaschools.org to request that they not remain in advisory during these days.
We hope you and your families have a fantastic weekend and are enjoying this beautiful fall weather.
In service to our Bulldogs.

Hi, Bulldog Families.
Next week is the end of the 1st quarter. We are having conversations with students stressing how important first quarter grades are to start the year on track to earn credits. We also have many winter extra curricular activities that students must be eligible for in order to participate.
Please take a moment to check in with your kids to make sure they are putting in the work and finishing this 1st quarter successfully.
Go Bulldogs!

Hello, Families.
Fall has finally arrived. We think. As the amount of daylight continues to decrease across the area, I always like to take a minute to talk with the students about the science of the seasons. Mainly, the rotation and revolution of the earth in relation to the sun, and the reasons for the seasons.
Here are just a few reminders this week. Tardies to school are beginning to increase for some students. I always communicate with them about the importance of arriving at school on time and being safe as a young driver. I’ll tell them to plan ahead, and early is on time. Students that reach their first 5 tardies serve a Friday school for one hour. We have just started our Friday schools that run from 2:15pm-3:15pm.
Lastly, students must have purchased a parking pass to drive and park on campus during the school day. Students can always reach out to me with any questions.
Thank you,
Joe Moorehead, Dean of Students

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for students entering or attending college for the 2027-28 academic year is up and running! Any student that is thinking about attending any type of education/training after high school should complete the FAFSA - technical school, trade school, community college, public university, or private university.
