7th Grade News, December 16
From the desk of Chris Howell, 7th Grade Principal
The holiday season has begun and there are only a few more days until winter break. I hope that everyone enjoys and cherishes this time with their loved ones.
With break coming, that means the quarter is ending. Please speak to your students about getting all of their missing assignments turned in before the end of the day on Thursday. Most teachers are closing out their gradebooks on Friday and will not be able to submit the work completed over break.
Finally, I want to thank the SMS PTA and all families for their kindness and participation in the annual SMS Gives Back event. Seeing the community come together to help those in need makes me appreciate working in Strongsville.
Need Food Assistance?
If your family, a student, or a staff member is in need of food assistance, please reach out to our District Social Worker, Celia Joyce, at 440-268-5588 or cjoyce@scsmustangs.org. Celia will work directly with you to ensure support and resources are provided.
News and Notes
- Please do not drop students off in the staff parking lot before school. This is causing safety issues
That's all for this week. Have a wonderful winter break.
Math Acceleration Information
SMS teachers are currently recommending students to take the Iowa Algebra Aptitude Test to help determine the most appropriate middle school math placement and assess readiness for the rigor of an Honors math class. Parents also have the option to request that their student take this test.
If your student is not currently enrolled in an Honors or advanced 6th- or 7th-grade math class and you would like them to be considered for an accelerated math course, please complete this form. Students listed on this form will have the opportunity to take the test to determine eligibility for this pathway. The test will be administered in mid-January. Please submit your request by January 5, 2026, 4pm.
Thank you!
